Until I listened to all the words, I did not realise how potent this song is:-

I find that many songs hit me the same way. The beat and/or instrumentation hook me, but it's the actual lyrics that make me laugh, cry, cheer, or warm all over.

And sometimes that realization doesn't hit for three or four or five decades. 'Let It Be' by the Beatles, for example, was an instant favorite for me when I first heard it the week it debuted in 1970...it was just a few years ago that I understood why when I finally played a video of it with the lyrics included.

If you haven't already ... try this one. It reminds me of early Dylan. :)

Funny, I'm listening to Dylan right now.

They're selling postcards of the hanging
They're painting the passports brown
The beauty parlour's full of sailors
The circus is in town

I guess it must be almost 60 years since I first heard that. It sticks. :)

You probably memorize Shakespeare sonnets and Dickinson poems as well. I'm jealous. :)

To be or not to be...an author...that is the question

:D

Huh... was that a tad on the snarky side? A swat on the nose? Or just a gentle pat?

Sam evidently is, and I admit to being only a wannabe. But I try and try, and perhaps someday will succeed. Readers will have the last say. :D)
