Maybe so, but this one tops them both.

Or perhaps "bottoms them both" is the more appropriate term. :D

(Is France really that entertainment challenged??)

.

I think so. They've been bereft since the Hot Club of France.
But there were earlier examples ( see Joseph Pujol, this one

It's all too scatalogical for me.

Holy shit (no pun intended), you really can find anything at Wikipedia.

I'm filing the visuals of all these French videos and Wiki pages in the brain cells that handles travel plans under "Things that are why the only reasons to ever go back to France is Versaille, the Louvre, and the beach cities on the Mediterranian coast."

I've been in some real holes in the USA and around the world, but France still ranks number one on the "Why did I bother?" list.

I'm not that fond of Paris, or the north in general; the Loire Valley is a bit dull; but Provence and the Cote d'Azur! I could happily have turned my three weeks in Antibes into three years.

Back to the holy shit, though:
Would a philosopher/futurist who envisioned the world's end neither in fire nor ice, but in feces, be deemed a scatological eschatologist?

Considering what the politicians are doing to the world, we're about nipples deep in bullshit already. But the scenario you have suggested would certainly make these guys really happy.

(watch the whole thing. it's hilarious! :D )

And let's not even mention global warming and climate science denying politicians with vested interests in government.

And the Ancient Egyptians revered the Beetle. the sign is the Scarab.

There will be people poo-pooing global warming even when they start seeing things like this:

Oh wait. I see stuff like that all the time here in the winter. :D

There are various "festivals" between Summer and the end of the year.
Hallowe'en is one obvious example, and here in the UK, Firework night (Nov 5th) is another. Traditionally, anything to do with Christmas takes place AFTER 5th November.

Lately, however, there's been a creeping "Christmas rush" thing for many stores. The really DAFT part is that many of the food products (those with a 'festive' twist) on sale will be well past their 'Sell By' date at the end of December.
My local CoOp has just put up the first of them.

It's driving a lot of us absolutely mad with rage at this patent commercial stupidity.
Stan Freeberg was right ('Green Christmas').

<Grrrrr, gnash>

No chance. Been there, done that, the T-shirt's used to clean the car.

A strongly-worded Note to the firms concerned may, however, be in order. . . .

you mean to the retail outlets promoting early Xmas?
turning the tide of capitalism? good luck with that.

Not quite, but I feel that we'd be failing in our duty if we did not alert those responsible
to the feelings of the customers. The other thing is the 'Use By' date. January or later, maybe, but not expire in November! That's plain daft !

Sorry. I keep forgetting some of our lesser known shows and stars are even more less known across the pond.

How about these guys from the UK for a proper world-wide '80s flashback?

I'm sufficiently old not to rate groups like that very highly.
It always struck me that the essential part of the deal was the advertising.

Now, Queen, on the other hand, seemed to know what they were about.
I'd still prefer some of the 60s music, but that's probably too old
(ye gods, I just realised I sound like my old Dad did !)

It happens, HP. As much as we don't expect it to, it does.

I'm not that much younger than you HP and *I* love some of the 1960's music too. (and not just the Beatles) In fact, my heart may be owned by the '70s groups, but I can get into vintage '50s Beach Boys, Jan & Dean, and Bill Halley and the Comets too.

Each decade...hell each century...contributes its own stars and top hits that eventually become classics. One of my favorite CD's is a Native American instrumental one using 500 and 1,000 year old instruments. You have to be treating music as little more than background noise to not appreciate all of its best stuff. :)

* * *

No kidding, Sam! I started shaving one morning and damn near dropped over when I saw my Dad staring back at me...and he was 46 years older than me! I swear that transformation just happened overnight.  :(

Re: Beach Boys
You mean THIS ?

As long as the 50's stuff isn't the usual "moon & june" cr@p, I hope?

And my ole' Dad had a moustache; I don't. I see me in the shaving mirror!

I think that I have only shaved a couple of times in the past 40-something years - so I can generally avoid the bathroom mirror. But I do often catch my father reflected in shop windows as I amble down the high street. :)
