Ah, yes. And by the time we get to Cromarty, I am usually drifting off into a gentle daydream. It doesn't take long.![]()
I was usually done by the Rockall & Malin approaches.

All that canned laughter was annoying. I cannot believe it was live.
And I don't speak French.
I'm still in Sunday brunch mode: French Toast
.
ye gods, man. french toast ?
Wassrong wit' ordinary well-buttered classic toast, then ?

Nothing ... until it falls to the floor buttered side down![]()
Are such places still running ?
The Fulton Fish Market is gone (I used to work on a scallop dragger out of that port), and the area is now a maritime museum, but last I looked, Louie's was still there at 92 South Street. Same menu, but more upscale prices now for the tourist trade.
And run by 'bean counters' these days ?
Things from our youth that kept us so occupied but the kids of today would probably laugh at us over:
Mexican Jumping Beans, Silly Putty, and Slinkies.
so much for history!
They're all still available in the US, and not entirely lacking in amusement value. I don't think frijoles saltarines (jumping beans) are sold in the UK anymore. These seed pods may be less popular since if they are well-cared for, the larvae inside will pupate and emerge as moths. Could put some people of to them as a toy for the kids.
Cydia deshaisiana

These were fun too...

...at least until "accidents" started happening at too many company picnics and family reunions.

What about Kilroy?![]()
You mean this Kilroy?
I haven't heard his name invoked or seen Kilroy graffiti since I was in college back in the late 70's. Thanks for a great memory, Sam.
