Free Levi Johnston

On a side note, I suspect at this point that Obama-Biden will prevail at the polls, by a slim, but decisive margin.

Two reasons:

1. Centrist voters, the "undecideds", who previously leaned toward McCain, will now back Obama because of the mortgage crisis. It will reinforce their basic bread and butter concerns.
2. Angry Ron Paulista Libertarian-Republicans, like me, who will either stay home this time in disgust with the GOP's cynical double-talk on the role of government or will vote for Bob Barr (guess which one I'm doing).

Between those two, we'll get not our oldest President, but our first biracial one. And Joe Biden won't need to fudge his resume anymore.

Let me suggest some things that might be used to influence Levi Johnson's decision to marry Billow or whatever-her-name-is Palin:

(a) the finding of some marijuana seeds in his pickup truck by an RNC operative, who would be duty bound to inform the police.

(b) Billow's sudden recovered memory that she did not exactly consent to have sex with Levi but was, in fact, perhaps raped.

(c) An unexpected close State audit of Levi and/or his parents' state income tax returns.

(d) A word with him by a low-level state functionary concerning his future quality-of-life in Alaska should he not marry Ms. Palin.

There are any number of ways pressure can be brought to bear on a young man in the form of a stick to induce him to do what's politically expedient, let alone in the form of a carrot. We already know what happened to the Gov's brother-in-law when he crossed her sister. Is it so hard to imagine that she wouldn't do a little arm twisting on the kid who knocked up her own daughter?

Then wouldn't Billow have to be stoned to death? I see a lot of churches in my state, which qualifies me as something of a Biblical scholar. I'm pretty sure the Old Testament view is that rape victims are guilty of fornication if the rape took place in a populated area (where it can be presumed she didn't scream for help or someone would have heard.)

If Levi raped Billow out in the woods someplace, she can be allowed to live. If he raped her in town, the sex was consentual for stoning purposes. Either way, it's baby Crunch who's screwed.

But, of course, if she went with him there without a male member of her family present, she is still a Jezebel who must be stoned. After all, we all know how harlots lead good men astray frm the paths of rightousness. I used to go to Sunday School when I was a child and I learned everything there is to know about such things.

Hey, anybody that has the prospects of having Sarah and Todd as In-laws in law (and lives on Caribou Loop Road for fuck sake) has a god given right to use drugs.

I'm not at all surprised given the two people I know who live in Alaska. It's pretty much a "Screw authority, I'll do what I want" state.

I bet she's dealing weed for some extra Christmas money. Though she should have bribed the right person since the national spotlight spilled over to her family. Or maybe Palin is getting some payback for Levi knocking up Bristol, making it a bit awkward during the election.

Bristol is due today according to the article.

I don't know what to make of it. I try not to be too judgmental about drug cases, and I try not to judge parents based on their kids' decisions... but I gotta ask, WTF???

Keith Oberman points out that, using Palin's own standard of guilt-by-association, we can't help but conclude that the governor pals around with drug dealers.

This made my day. I wonder if Fox News will pick up on this angle?
