So I just finished watching an in depth report from PBS Newshour (as one would, because PBS Newshour is the best) about farmers and how much they are suffering from current trade policies & tariffs, etc, and a farmers union rep had the nerve to say farmers are suffering “through no fault of their own”…despite farmers voting OVERWHELMINGLY for DonOld & the MAGAt republicans…

Fuck that ^, Fuck that farmers union rep, Fuck farmers, and Fuck DonOld & the MAGAt republicans.

No, more examples showing that thd US is not a pure capitalist economy. The government does provide services to its citizens, or in this case agribusiness.

The US also practices socialism in their investments in corporations via the steel and tech industries recently. Past practices were grants to "prime the pump" to develop businesses or labs or educational studies. We will see how thus works.

Oh, and our taxes are used to support local to national government services from food and fire departments to social security and national defense. The US is not a pure capitalist economy or as socialist as some other countries.

The small, family farmers struggle to pay for the higher cost of doing business, equipment, seed and fertilizer, and some shrinking markets, such as USAID and foreign markets. It could be a weeding out of family farms.

tariffs did a number of farmers with increased costs in equipment, seed and fertilizer. when they are operating on razor thin margins, that crushes their profit. farmers receive government subsidies in the form of land or purchases. when the administration removed USAID and increased tariffs on certain countries, the farmers lost markets. the lost markets were government purchases and countries refusing to buy US farm product.

They need to ask themselves why they've put themselves into that position and figure out how to get out of it. Those of us who actually studied know better than to even consider that shit.

Giving people free stuff is just welfare, not a subsidy.

A subsidy is when the government doesn't tax/fee/regulate me the same as the rest. LIke exempting me from taxes if I'm producing X product or creating x ammount of jobs.
