A subsidy is when the government doesn't tax/fee/regulate me the same as the rest. LIke exempting me from taxes if I'm producing X product or creating x ammount of jobs.

They didn't put themselves into the position of razor this margins, the market did with futures pricing. Family farmers sold to USAID and shipped to overseas markets. Both avenues were closed by this administration . Purchases can be a subsidy if there are no other markets. Think back to the plight of te dairy farmers and the government bought tons of cheese.

Ranchers. Farmers. They receive government help. Guess why some of administration, bessent notably, got into the farming business. Others are waiting for these farms to go up for auction and buy them for a song.
