Must be a pain to be both tank and heals? Its recommended to have one of each, separately! And 3 rock solid dps is a plus also.

Our group is combat rogue, marksmanship hunter, DPS pet, and my retribution paladin. I tank and heal sorta, but with the DPS that we each pump downrange, I don't generally have to heal too much in fights, and don't usually take all that much damage.

Honestly, a Flash of Light or two is all the healing that I do, and that is generally only on multiple elite pulls. viv gripes all the time that she doesn't even get a hit in when we pull normal stuff our level.

Once we get higher level, and damage becomes a bit more serious, I may respec for Protection.

Oddly enough, viv died in that one too, and she NEVER dies. Vanish is her bestest friend, so death is not usually an issue. Damned rogues...

My first and only death in an instance so far :D

And while I love me some werewolf (really, is there anything better than a Get Ahroun?), I can't wait for the goblins! Haven't decide on a class yet though.

I died 3-4 times last night in an instance. This is annoying as I'm the only rezzer in the group, as well as the only healer (and tank, whee). I swear that LoH is a death sentence for me. As soon as I decide to hit it, I flatline BANG. I was tanking a good-sized pull, had my little 50% shield up, and was watching my health drop at a reasonable rate. I hit about 25% and figured I'd swat the LoH button, and *SPLAT* all my health was gone in a series of crits from regular elite mobs, as each decided now was the time to drop the hammer.

Oddly enough, viv died in that one too, and she NEVER dies. Vanish is her bestest friend, so death is not usually an issue. Damned rogues...

Get viv to go engineering and get the goblin jumper cables...ok, doesn't work all the time, but a better chance than not having them.

For us ally types the gnomish army knife does something similar.:)

I wish Blizzard would sort out the 3rd rogue specc subtelty. Combat and assasinate work real well but I think a little bit of work has to be done to subtelty, it has great potential.

as you level up you are going to need to have more defined roles. you can get away with a heal/dps combo, but a heal/tank is asking for trouble

Homburg:
The guys over at Wow.com, it used to be Wowinsider, had a really informative discussion about the pros and cons of each new class/race combo (scroll down that page to find the Human/Undead Hunter conversation). The TLDR version is two-fold: The alliance had Rangers, a sub-set of the general Hunter pop, which were the WoW equivalent of the US Army Ranger snipers for generations in the past. These guys were the top guns in the Second War before Arthas ruined the ride for everyone. So humans have been Hunters in the past, and since the Undead race are in fact... well, the undead citizens of the now wasted Lorderan Kingdom, then it isn't that far a stretch to think that their half rotted brains would recall how to string a bow and lay a trap. Secondly, the leader of the Undead, the Dark Queen Sylvannas Windrunner, was, and is, a Ranger herself. If nothing else she could teach her minions how to Huntard all over again.

But, I totally see your point. When you think of a Hunter, if you are like me, you are thinking of a stealthy stalker, marking his prey and then sneaking up on him like a breeze through the trees with the wild woods as his home. A skinny, stinking, bony, glowy-eyed talking corpse... does not fit that image. And, good luck to the first UD Hunter who tames a dog and then spends the next two hours hopping around furiously trying to find where his left thigh bone might be buried.

And I agree with the switch to Prot. Prot Pallies are still very OP in the tanking department. Go Prot, then have Viv and MIS double up on one mob at a time(single target dps ftw, don't forget to use your raid markers to assist the girls in identifying which mob is marked for death) and you will have no trouble at all in most equal level instances. I could see the three of y'all Rick Rollin' BRD right now. :D

This article is a good run down of what Blizz is planning on doing with the Talent trees in Cat. Instead of having to put ranks into a talent that increases your... spell crit by 5%(maxed out ranks) you will be putting those talent points into more interesting (and hopefully fun) talents like the ones mentioned in the link. What happens is: as you put more and more points into a certain tree, there are special "Mastery stats" at the bottom of each tree that will increase depending on the amount of points you have spent in that tree.

And Subtlty's Mastery stat is Energy Regen. Right now, at least.

Oh, and gear will come with a + to Mastery modifier in Cat. So whatever your spec, that +Mastery stat on your gear will always help you. Now, that's just pure win.

Thanks for the link, Interesting reading. Thats answered my question pretty well, seems like blizzard have been busy.:)

I will be playing a warrior, assuming they're available. There's just something cool to me about a goblin warrior.

That's a thought. She's doing pretty darned well with enchanting and mining though. I'd hate to ruin a good thing, and I like getting my enchants for free.

This is what I am thinking about as well. We're only 58-59, so it's not that tough. I've never re-specced, so it's cheap to do so still. It'll be easy to play around a bit and see what I can do with it.

I'm bummed about new races, I gots no new character slots.

And I ain't going to a new server. Huh uh.

1) goblins can be anything but druids and pally's. So your goblin warrior fantasy can come true.

2) free enchants are worth the ghost run back.

3) have you thought about adding a healer to your little group? i could see what toons i might have on your server ;) because you need a tank AND a healer and hunters and rogues are strictly dps. (of course the hunter pet could tank if you get the right one)

So far, the only time I miss having a healer around is when we do instances. For the rest of the time, it's no big thing at all. Instances can be interesting though. The one I was talking about above was Atal'Hakkar, and the pulls with 2-4 dragon centaur things and the horde of dragonkin were just a bear to deal with. We just couldn't AOE the little buggers down fast enough, and they were ALL beating on me (yay for proper aggro management, right?). Even with shields my health was plummeting, and I have the talent that makes Flash of Light an instant after a crit, but I have a lot of data coming through and I don't usually have the time in a fight like that to check for that particular little icon too.

It's not worth re-speccing to Holy. We don't need that much healing, and I would not be able to keep aggro if I did. Protection might work, which is why I've been thinking about it. I'd hate to give up my bad-ass 2h sword though. And shields? Blech.

Me too. i already have a Priest and Pally that use that. But in the case of my rogue, it will return energy instead...and i can always use a little bit more energy. :p

YEs, it is the hotness.

And, man, I am constantly trying to feed viv's rogue's addiction to swift thistle tea. None of the herbs I'm pulling these days return swift thistle though, so I'm going to have to go plant-slumming.

If you don't remember where to gather swiftthistle, it drops from mageroyal and briarthorn.

i did my faction change tonight as well...i did go with a female blood elf. i love her stealth animation. Only took an hour and a half before i could play her again...(and i was, until the damn server went down...it's been down for about 20 minutes now).

i only lost one item in the transfer, but that was because it was an Alliance item and apparently there is no Horde equivalent for it. Oh well. Everthing else went very smoothly.

*nod* I am just not in areas what have mageroyal and briarthorn these days, and when I do pass them by, the plant gods have not been kind.

whew!!!!

Got my Deviate Hatchling & Firefly tonight, giving me 75 pets, so I got the Little Game Hunter achievment knocked out!
