Geeks, Nerds, Enthusiasts...share your thoughts with me!

So this is where all the nerds have gone? Sadly it looks like our previous thread that Vail had started is gone. So I guess this is a new home!
Hello! Gamer (Console/PC and TTRPG), Sci-Fi, fantasy nerd. I hit most of the nerd topics except manga/anime.
Presently annoyed with grinding Spire in Destiny for my damned hat iykyk.

I escaped the pull of Destiny a while back but I seem to always have my finger above the "download" button. It's Vampire Survivors that's got me hooked at the moment.

My gaming group has got back in to Ark atm. Wishing its sequel would hurry up and get released.

spending $ on a new rig....or $ on a ps5? Important life decisions  hahah

This is the way. Just wish there was more cross platform for more games so I can play with the homies
The two games I cross play are so buggy it has drained the fun out of it for me. Also open world game chat sucks, I prefer discord or something and gaming that way. So that's easier for me on PC.
Either way I hope you get the gaming experience that you enjoy.

That was a great thread. Looks like all of her posts and her account are gone.

The PC community for games will be better. Plus mods etc mean the games you do have will last longer.

The only console I will get these days is the switch. And then, only for the family games.

I always feel like a bad gamer when I have to admit to not playing any FF games, or KH or anything Mario. But man give me Alan Wake, Uncharted, Odd World, RDR/2/O and I am happy.

Honestly I feel like saying you haven't played those at all is fine as everyone has different taste in games. I feel like a bad gamer when I have to admit I haven't finished several FF games I own nor the original KH. Sometimes life gets in the way and you just can't get back into a game where you left off, and you don't feel like starting over

And if you're happy with your games that's all that matters 🙂
I am, I really enjoy open world, exploration, hidden things, deep character cut scenes and stuff like that. And I tend to get a lot of replay value out of those.

My Steam account would shame me for all the games I rarely play for love of Destiny and RDO

I agree I love open worlds games, and are certain ones I've played way to many times. Even if I have every trophy and achievement in them, I still find something else want to do or try.

And my steam account has more unplayed games then played ones by a percentage I'd rather not disclose 😔

Satisfactory is calling out to me again.

That thing can suck hours away like nothing else.

Midwest gent reading the Expanse series right now, so any pervs who feel like chatting about that I’m in for the conversation or anything else on your mind.

I have watched the entire series but not read the books. I understand there are significant changes from the source though. But it is a hell of a ride I think either way!

I’ve started watching season 1, Holden is basically my image of Holden, interesting to see how the others are played. They definitely didn’t spend the money to make the people from the belt look as, different, as the book described them.

I’m far enough into the books that im not worried about spoilers at this point. Having just finished Andor, I do need my Sci Fi fix when im feeing brainless in front of the TV.

Andor was also amazing.

The Belters get less and less distinct as the show goes on. But without having read the books I enjoyed it a lot. Sort of how I started with Game of Thrones, I watch the first 5 seasons before I started the books between seasons. It sort of gave me some media dissonance with the influence of the show and differences between that and the books.

Im curious since you are someone who watched thrones before reading. Did you notice while watching when the story veered in a different direction watching or was that something us annoying book folk just felt. I really hope if George ever does finish the story, the White Walkers and the eventual King are far more satisfying in how they get settled.

The narrative flowed ok, there were definite moments where time and characters seemed to be muddled, and that was clarified when I read the books. So had I never read the books I might have chalked it up to a few meh moments in a good series through season 6. It really went off the rails after that and it felt like when you turn a you tube video to 2.0 speed. Like it just felt rushed. Certain scenes made no sense. A specific characters well built redemption arc falls flat literally over night, multiple cunning character make stupid decisions that lead to bad outcomes, someone gradual stability decline going nuclear in a short time. I didn't like that story elements felt forced. And *that* scene with Arya was completely unnecessary. And I mean the one before the battle not during it.
I miss arcs and deep dives into like Cold Hands and Lady Stone Heart, maybe that's why HOTD is working better for me.

Yeah, it felt like they’d spent all their money before wrapping up the story and realized everything had to move fast, and they definitely had their own views on the characters and their arc that was way different than where George had them going. I know exactly which scene you are referring to in “that” scene and yeah, I was rewatching it with someone who hadn’t seen it and they were WTF as it was happening.

HOTD is way more satisfying so far, then again, all the material is sourced so far, just written differently. Fingers crossed it stays this good, plus the acting really is damn good in HOTD too.

What other entertainment, written or visual, has caught your eye recently?
