8-Tracks are like the awkward middle child of music.
Vinyl records worked fine with good sound quality, and cassettes were basically a better form of the same technology.

I remember because she showed me the 8track cassette

I honestly missed the era of 8-tracks entirely.
By the time I was of an age that I really listened to music, cassettes were already a thing.
Records were already the past that nobody used but music snobs.
They hadn't come back into fashion yet.
CDs were a thing by the time I was a teenager.
8-tracks really had no place in my life.
