Since at least some of us think it is too early to start a thread for the Halloween Contest, this thread is to support and encourage us to write ANY stories and submit them.

Wake up your muse! Demand attention! Concentrate on daily output! Finish that long-running saga and put your readers out of their misery!

I know; I know. All those exhoratations could apply to Og as well. That's the point. We all need encouragement and support sometimes.

So? What are we waiting for? Go write a story instead of playing around with the frivolous threads. You can be frivolous again when you're waiting for the submitted story to post.

Produce! Export or Die! Whatever! Just WRITE!

Og (Who has used more exclamation marks in this post than I normally allow for a whole year)

sigh. I have 2 stories and a poem waiting to be approved (since 1 poem posted this morning). If I was frivolous while waiting for things to post, I'd never get anything done. LOL

Concentrating on daily output is a good goal. Soon, it will be the first of yet another month. I've seen "30 in 30 days" poetry challenges. Perhaps, you have an idea for a similar challenge?

My muse is a tease. She gives me an idea for a story. Waits for me to write anywhere between 100 and 1000 words, then fucks off out. Next time she shows up, she'll have a new idea.

I haven;t counted, but I must have at *least* 4 or 5 stories started with plenty of room to grow, but nothing doing.

<groan>

This never used to happen to me.

"The story contains true love that doesn't make it any better. Romance blossoms between a gunfighter with a sense of humor and a misunderstood loner, while difficulties they encounter include opium dreams and codes and ciphers."

That's a fun spot, Lady.

I do have a Romance story waiting to be posted here at Lit and I submitted the namuscript of my second mainsream novel to an agent, but writing has been a chore the last few days.

I'll trade my non-functioning muse for one hibernating, sleeping, or on vacation. At least there's some chance those might do some good, some how, some day, in some way.

Could it be that we're all sharing the same muse? She seems to be exhibiting the same behavior again and again. If she flits from writer to writer, could that not explain the long absences? She plays favorites, of course, spending more time with some, less with others. Hmmm...

I've got the opposite problem with the muse.... She's chomping at the bit but there's to much going on here at work to get words down on paper... uh, laptop, uh, file, folder, whatever......

You guys do know there is a "Story Ideas" section on this website, right? Lots of great ideas being kicked around over there......Carney (and some not-so-great ideas, too)

My muse took off on vacation some time last year. She came back for a short time the first of the year, then took off again. I *want* to write... I just don't have any ideas.

Sorry, Rumpy, but my muse is an evil bastard. I've tried writing Horror, Romance and just about everything else, but it still comes out humor.

As of late, I've been working furiously on a much longer piece. To quote John Wayne in "She Wore a Yellow Ribbon"... "In ten or fifteen years..." :(

Okay, JJ, I've just gotta ask, does this "longer piece" enjoy being worked on?

Crim, that's a most inspirational AV. Many thanks.

Thirty in Thirty?

Later on, there is NaNoWriMo but in the meantime, how about -

30 stories in 30 days?

The minimum for submission as a story is only 750 words. That's less than the daily output for NaNoWriMo sao should be possible. Is anyone willing to attempt 30 in 30?

(Of course I could cheat and produce 30 fifty-word stories except that each fifty-word story takes as long to produce as a 750 word one.)

30 in 30

Intriguing challenge. At the moment, no, because I have a final assignment, revision and a three-hour exam staring me in the face. After the exam (which isn't until October 15, but I'm panicking, because of my lousy memory) maybe, just maybe. And no, I'm not planning to build up a store for submission. If I do it, they'll all be new, although I might jot down story ideas in the meantime.

Alex

There's this guy, right, and he wants to sleep with this girl. But there's this other guy that the girl is dating, so the first guy has to try and seduce her away from the second guy. But the second guy's younger sister is in love with the first guy and is pining away silently for him but is slowly building up the courage to make a move. Yet the first girl really wants to jump in the sack with the sister of the second guy, because she has these latent bisexual tendencies that we know every woman has and simple represses.

Then there's the older woman across the street who has always dreamed of having two men take her at once while her husband watches from the living room sofa on the tv because he's got a camera system hooked up in their bedroom. Meanwhile this guy's daughter is a stripper downtown, but her parents don't know that she's doing this to earn money for college. So she has to try and resist the temptations that are all around her (drugs, prostitution) while working hard to get her education.

Oh, did I mention that there's also a sexy couples therapist who also lectures part-time at the college and frequents the strip club down who's moved in across the street from EVERYONE?

:D

No more excuses. WRITE.
