General Purpose Story Writing Support Thread

Later on, there is NaNoWriMo but in the meantime, how about -

30 stories in 30 days?

The minimum for submission as a story is only 750 words. That's less than the daily output for NaNoWriMo sao should be possible. Is anyone willing to attempt 30 in 30?

(Of course I could cheat and produce 30 fifty-word stories except that each fifty-word story takes as long to produce as a 750 word one.)

LOL I was just giving it as an example. 30 stories in 30 days actually would be good practice for NaNoWriMo, as I am determined to participate and complete that challenge this year. I would suggest, however, that if someone wants to take my example literally and apply it to our category, that the challenge be 30 submissions in 30 days, not strictly stories. I also suggest that a thread would be started for those who dare participate during the month of August.
Any thoughts?

I'd be willing to give it a shot. I've been slowly but surely trying to work my way back into writing after a many months of being unable to write. Could be a fun exercise.

Better idea for those of us not quite so ambitious. How about just sitting down and writing for 30 minutes a day for 30 days? I know it doesn't seem like much in one day, but add it up. It would be a lot better than what I'm doing now, which is pretty much just hit and miss whenever.

I am willing to participate in the 30 on 30

Do you smoke two packs a day and drink a fifth of Jack a week?

If not you will after a few months with this silly..... Uh..... Muse of mine....

Also you need to know the fine art of caring for a red head with a bad temper.....

 Now why was it I wanted her back.......

Someone give me fair warning if at some point during the challenge, a lynch mob targets me for bringing up the idea...

There's this guy, right, and he wants to sleep with this girl. But there's this other guy that the girl is dating, so the first guy has to try and seduce her away from the second guy. But the second guy's younger sister is in love with the first guy and is pining away silently for him but is slowly building up the courage to make a move. Yet the first girl really wants to jump in the sack with the sister of the second guy, because she has these latent bisexual tendencies that we know every woman has and simple represses.

Then there's the older woman across the street who has always dreamed of having two men take her at once while her husband watches from the living room sofa on the tv because he's got a camera system hooked up in their bedroom. Meanwhile this guy's daughter is a stripper downtown, but her parents don't know that she's doing this to earn money for college. So she has to try and resist the temptations that are all around her (drugs, prostitution) while working hard to get her education.

Oh, did I mention that there's also a sexy couples therapist who also lectures part-time at the college and frequents the strip club down who's moved in across the street from EVERYONE?

:D

No more excuses. WRITE.
Not enough sub-plots.

Found this one

"It starts in a gas station in the middle of nowhere, with a psychopath. The antagonist is a ridiculously stupid or lucky protagonist and the plot involves elements like bare feet on earth and a creeping blush."

What the fuck? LOL

The art prompt generator can be amusing. One prompt I got there was to draw a portrait of a person who is not a pirate...
I'm like, "DAMN! I SO wanted to draw a pirate today!"

I like the 30 in 30 idea but the only way I could successfully participate would be if someone posted a "topic of the day" to write about. Lack of ideas is the reason I'm not writing as it is (and yes, I've been on the story ideas forum but haven't seen anything that strikes my fancy).

I've managed to crank out eight story ideas so far for the 30 in 30 challenge. Anyone else doing any better than me?

I haven't started writing yet. Just slapping down some basic ideas so that way I don't have to waste time thinking about them. :p

not like I would sincerely complain, hon.
So, are we on for a 30 in 30 challenge starting Wednesday? Ogg, care to set up a thread for those who want to participate? (That way people can blame you! LOL)
