This stinks!

Hey everyone! I just wanted to let you all know what's going on with me....and well...it isn't great.

Anyone who's seen my older posts knows that I love climbing. Well...On Sept. 5th I was climbing and had an accident. I took a 40ft fall! I shattered both of my heels, broke my back, and the thumb of my left hand. I was in the hospital for two weeks having some surgery and such..two pins in both my heels, two in my thumb that were taken out yesterday (ouch!) I can't bear weight on either of my feet for three months so I'm bed and wheel chair bound for some time.

So yeah...I've got a long recovery ahead of me. WOrst part is I don't have a girl to take care of me and I can't take care of myself :( I'm gonna be frustrated! :) I moved back in with my parents since I'm so dependent on people for help. It's hard when you can't do anything without help...

Oh well...Just wanted to let ya'll know what is happening with me. I'm very lucky seeing as I'm not dead or paralyzed. I'm certainly not complaining..just whining a bunch.

Typing is hard so I won't be posting much at all.. (not that I ever really did...) Hope all is well with you all! I could certainly use a Nurse Bama ;)

Adios...

Yeah great weather here. I'm wondering if the Dawgs can win 17 in a row at home. I've got a bad feeling they will lose today.

Hello yall :rose:

I haven't had grits in months. Every since the place I used to eat closed down. The building is still there. No one has bought it yet.

Mr. T's. It had a model T car in the dining room.

Hun don't you know how to cook grits yourself?

Morning everyone,

well I made it back in one piece. Let me tell you, New York is not the place for a redneck. Man, the fricking traffic was terrible. When we flew over the city, you couldnt see any green, no green at all, except the cemeterys. It was a nice trip all in all, but there are way too many people up there.

Not, sorry to hear about your troubles. Hope you get back to what you like doing soon.

Angel, hey sweety. I have missed you terribly. I hope everything has been going OK. Hope to talk to you later.

Bama, how you doing darlin? Everything well on your side of the board.

Everyone please have a great day.

If y'all don't like Dixie, Delta is ready

By Lewis Grizzard

I don't care what they do to the Georgia state flag. They can put a big peach on the thing as far as I'm concerned. They can put Deion Sanders' smiling face on it.

And let it be known that the opponents of the flag, with its reminiscence of the Confederate banner, will bring down that flag.

One way or the other, color it red, white, blue and gone. It's politically incorrect and all the things that are deemed such have no future in this country.

We elected Hillary Rodham Clinton and the ban on the gays in the military will be lifted. It's a done deal. Like it or not, the Georgia state flag has no chance either.

The issue on my mind is white Southerners like myself.

They don't like us. They don't trust us. They want to tell us why we're wrong. They want to tell us how we should change.

They is practically every s.o.b. who isn't one of us.

I read a piece on the op-ed page of the Constitution written by somebody who in the jargon of my past "ain't from around here."

He wrote white Southerners are always looking back and that we should look forward. He said that about me.

I'm looking back? I live in one of the most progressive cities in the world. We built a subway to make Yankees feel at home.
And I live in a region the rest of the country can't wait to move to.

A friend, also a native Southerner, who shares my anger about the constant belittling of our kind and our place in this world, put it this way: "Nobody is going into an Atlanta bar tonight celebrating because they've just been transferred to New Jersey."

Damn straight.

I was having lunch at an Atlanta golf club recently. I was talking with friends.

A man sitting at another table heard me speaking and asked, "Where are you all from?" He was mocking me. He was mocking my Southern accent. He was sitting in Atlanta, Ga., and was making fun of the way I speak.

He was from Toledo. He had been transferred to Atlanta. If I hadn't have been 46 years old, skinny and a basic coward with a bad heart, I'd have punched him. I did, however, give him a severe verbal dressing down.

I was in my doctor's office in Atlanta. One of the women who works there, a transplanted Northerner, asked how I
pronounced the world "siren."

I said I pronounced it "si-reen." I was half kidding, but that is the way I heard the word pronounced when I was a child.

The woman laughed and said, "You Southerners really crack me up. You have a language all your own."

Yeah we do. If you don't like it, go back home and stick your head in a snow bank.

They want to tell us how to speak, how to live, what to eat, what to think and they also want to tell us how they used to do it
back in Buffalo.

Buffalo? What was the score? A hundred and ten to Zip.

The man writing on the op-ed page was writing about that bumper sticker that shows the old Confederate soldier and he's saying, "FERGIT HELL!" I don't go around sulking about the fact the South lost the Civil War. But I am aware that once upon a long time ago, a group of Americans saw fit to rebel against what they thought was an overbearing federal government. There is no record anywhere that indicates anybody in my family living in 1861 owned slaves. As a matter of fact, I come from a long line of sharecroppers, horse thieves and used car dealers. But a few of them fought anyway -- not to keep their slaves, because they didn't have any. I guess they simply thought it was the right thing to do at the time.

Whatever the reason, there was a citizenry that once saw fit to fight and die and I come from all that, and I look at those people as brave and gallant, and a frightful force until their hearts and their lands were burnt away.

I will never turn my back on that heritage.

But know this: I'm a white man and I'm a Southerner. And I'm sick of being told what is wrong with me from outside critics, and I'm tired of being stereotyped as a refugee from "God's Little Acre."

If I've said it once, I've said it a thousand times, and I'll probably have to say it a thousand times again.

Delta may be hurting financially, but it's still ready to take you back to Toledo when you are ready to go.

Disclaimer: these are only my views, and my ramblings. in no way shape or form am i encouraging a rebellion against our nation. I just would like to say this in response to writer's post because it is what came to mind
-------------------------------------------

The whole time while reading it, I was thinking about the commentary I recently heard about. That if the Confederate flag is a reminder and symbol of oppression because of it flying high during slavery and the horrible way african-americans were treated, what is the United States flag then? It was not only flown as a symbol of FREEDOM, DURING slavery , but also during women's oppression, segregation, witch hunts and executions, during the wars with the spanish for western territories we now call states, and let's not forget the native americans who's land that we as a country shoved them from, took their lands and confined on reservations that are thousands of percentages smaller than their original homes, because we "the united states" wanted that land, hell even during Vietnam. Just think of everything this country has fought against and has done that is overturned now because it was "inhuman".

Let me remind you none of this was overturned becuase it was inhuman though, each of these things were perfectly acceptable behaviors. It was only overturned because a group of people stood up and fought for their beliefs and many even died for them! If they had not, I would hate to see this country. We think it's bad now, add all the oppression back to it with each and every group fighting it. Why doesn't the US Flag represent and remind people of all those things? If the Conferdate flag is a reminder and symbol of black oppression, then what is the US flag? It is all the oppression the Conferdate flag "reminds" ppl of 10 times over because of the Native Americans, Hispanic/Latinos, women and just about anyone who lives here. Everyone's ancestory has been supressed, oppressed, discrimated against, and wronged in some major "inhuman" way while the Stars and Stripes have flown above this country. Where is the demand to remove that reminder?

Or is it just different since the Stars and Stripes is our big Nations Flag, and the COnferdate Flag was only the flag of a single simple state compromised mostly of lower educated rednecks? Tell me if that isn't oppression, oppression from lack of education. or more accurately, oppression as a result of the Good Ole Boys System which believe me, is alive, well, kicking, and multiplying in most offices across America.

If I a woman of mixed European and Native American descent raised southern belle/redneck can look beyond what 'used to be' and foward to the future without holding any grudges, accepting the past as history, learning from the mistakes made, and useing this as a reminder of how far we as a state have progressed, much less as a nation, why can't you? Each of us have been mistreated, used, and ridiculed. These flags are not reminders of transgressions commited against races and sexes generations ago, but instead reminders of how wonderful this country really is. That we as a people were able to change that history, and each individual person contribute to a "harmonic" existance being lived in today, not the oppression 50 to 200 years ago.

If we dwell in the past, there is no present, and the future is dead. You can not live in the present and move forward to the future, by constantly reliving in the past. Just because someones great great great great great great great great great great grandmother/grandfather was punished wrongly and pursecuted, does not mean we should spend an eternity compensating for it.

*stepping off my soap box now and daring to post. to me all people are equal even when they forfeit many of their constitutional rights by commiting a crime. *

(yes I'm still alive and kicking...hope everyone has been doing well.)

spank, jay, bama, da, shy, and others I can't think of at this moment in my sleep deprived stupor, i've missed ya'll *hugs* and :p to all of you

jay, you feel up to chatting sometime?

Morning All,

Well, I have to say, I agree!! If you dont like it here, then move. I just got back from New York, and there is no way in hell I'd move up there. Those people have no idea what real freedom is, it's way to crowded.

I feel like a truck ran over me this morning, started getting a cold, so I took a lot of cold medicine. Now its hard to stay awake.

Angel, good morning, hope your night was good to you.

SD, Darlin, I would love to chat any time you'd like. Just drop me a line, and I'll bite. Its hard to stay on very long at a time during the day, but I do get time to talk. My yahoo handle is on my profile page.(I think)or it will be.

Everyone please have a great day.

Hey everyone,
Well its a new day, and I feel like shit again today. Looks like I'll be leaving early today. This cold or whatever it is, is kicking my ass. I hope everyone has a good day, and can enjoy the nice weather.

Good evening to all my adopted Georgia friends.

And congratulations on the Braves extra inning win tonight.

Hope everyone has a wonderful evening.

Wow Not, I am so sorry to hear that. I would take care of ya if I was able :) I'm so glad you are still with us hun, just the thoughts of that fall makes me shudder. Falling is one of my biggest fears. *hugs you gently so not to hurt you*
