Gettin' ready for NFL '09!!!

That's true about PS counting, and yeah, a lot of home games is often a good pick for preseason. :)

Who knows about the last game. Teams will be in a hurry to pull out the starters so they won't get a needless injury.

The fun for me starts next week. I guess Atlanta might be pretty good this year though.

Yup. I wouldn't be at all surprised to see a fair number of "upsets."

(College?)

My ideal season would be every team actually having parity, that "on any given Sunday..." I'd love to see a season where every line was either "pick 'em" or <5 points. That would be some awesome football.

But yes, the DirtyBirds do look like they might surprise a few folks this year.

Atlanta hasn't been to the playoffs two years in a row in their history. I never liked Vick. But I think I could watch this team now. Thing is I don't get Atlanta on the dish. I love the dish though and will never go back to cable.

A NYC sports bar ought to be fun, as long as the Titans aren't playing the Giants or Jets... if they are, you might get your butt kicked if you cheer too loudly for Tennessee... ;)
Yeah it could be loads of fun, but time will tell if I'll make it. It's the day we arrive, and due to the 6 hour time difference, we'll probably be very tired, but time will tell. And yes it should be fun, and they aren't playing any of the NY teams ;)

Do try to get Weeks 1 and 2 posted before you go, and don't worry about getting them in any particular order or anything; I'll rearrange them for you if necessary. First two weeks (at least), Monday Night Football will be the tiebreaker. After the first few weeks, if MNF looks likely to be a blowout, I might change the tiebreaker game to one that's more likely to have some suspense to it. (If no one objects too strenuously to that concept. I think I forgot to mention that earlier.)

I've just made my picks, so here you go:

Still goin' heavy on the homefield +3 advantage, huh? ;) Not usually a bad tactic in preseason, despite last week's results.

Favre looked pretty decent last night, didn't he? Not bad at all for an "old man" who will be 40 in October.

Games start at 6:30 ET tonight. Good luck, all!

"Da Real Thang" starts next Thursday at 8:30 ET, Tennessee at Pittsburgh, hopefully with ShyGuy in a NYC sports bar, cheering.

There will be a new thread for the regular season. I believe we had eight regular players last season - let's see if we can get more this year, hmmk?

Dave, dood! You STILL can't pick both teams in one game!
Sorry... sorry! Oy! heaven forbid my eyes skip over that one when i was typing my response.

It's not like I was meaning to do that.

Anyway, for that game...

I say St. Louis

Final pre-season tune-up results:

Week 4:
EcstaticSub - 10 . . . . . . . . . . . . Congrats!

For the three weeks we played:

Look for the new regular season pool thread within the next couple of days, and invite all your friends who might want to play! No cost, no knowledge of football required, just a fun way to make *all* the games count, at least a little bit.
