Gi Joe Down Time Reloaded (Closed)

"What do you mean?" He asked Scarlett. "I can take that this was an initiation of sorts that got out of hand, but what do the women do to the newcomers? Or, is that only for other women?" Scarlett shook her head.
"I can't tell ya what the girls do, nor the guys. It changes every initiate." She said with a shrug. "Youre just gonna have decide if sleeping is safe or not tonight."

Hearing Snake give his story, I frown and look down at the tea. I still wanted to see but I didn't want to make him feel pressured. "I understand. I still wanna see, but I am not going to force you." I said. Looking up at him with a slight smile before finishing my tea. Snake was right. I felt much better after having that tea. "Thank you for the tea. I do feel much better."

He nodded to her but continued with his sign language, "Its better that you don't see it. The scars run deep in many ways. Not even Scarlett has seen them. I went through many surgeries but they couldn't fix my vocal cords which is why I'm silent." It was something that didn't trouble him, but it DoD trouble those around him. Many people thought Snake was a spook, always in the shadows, lurking and never saying a word but it was also difficult for him to be friends because he could never say what he was feeling.

I said to Scarlett, "Im going to need the sleep" but then remembered that I was underground. .y body clock was going to be messed up because I had no idea what it was outside. My watch said 1700 hours but my body didnt know that, but I shook it off and looked at Scarlett, "What's it like serving here?"

"I understand, Snake but..." I got up and carefully approached him. Blushing a little even though I was sure the dark of the room hid it. "Just know I'm not scared to see it okay? I've always been told that scars can be seen as a reminder for caution. Or can become the marks of a warrior who has known battle. And you have known battle, Snake." I told him. Reaching out to hug him. "You are a warrior. And a strong one."

Scarlett pondered his question for a few moments before smiling. "It's great actually. We have just about everything we need that we miss on the surface. Except family and stuff. But we get to write and once a month we get to contact them. Other than that, we get sent out on the things we're needed most on and it usually sends us just about everywhere in the world. Our last mission took us to Paris...though we have now uh been banned from ever going there."

"Banned from Paris?" I asked then thought for a moment and remembered the news that the Eiffel Tower collapsed after being damaged during what the government called a 'terrorist attack'. "Why were you banned?" looking at her with a wide eye. She couldn't be a terrorist because she would have been in prison and we were Americans, we were the good the guys.

Snake let her hug him and then gently stroked her back then pressed lightly against her shoulders so that she would lean back. his face was still in the shadows, just a little bit of his chin and the outline of his cheeks were showing. He was still reluctant to show himself. Even though he cared for Sam and for Scarlett he felt that he couldn't let the scars come to light yet. He lifted up his hands and signed, "I can't show them to you yet. Sorry, but I am working on to have these scars healed with a surgeon. I know that many here talk about me and I know to many of them I'm a mute and a freak, but until I can let these scars start to heal, I can't show them to anyone. I hope you understand"

I read his words and nodded. Taking his hand in mine, I gave it a gentle squeeze and leaned in to where I could make out his cheek and kissed it. "Dont you listen to those jerks. They're just jealous that they aren't you." I smiled and squeezed his hand before stepping back and letting go. "I should get back to my room before they go lights out. Thank you for the tea, Snake. Night." I bowed my head and turned to leave the room.

"We were trying to stop Cobra from disintegrating the Eiffel Tower but because of the damaged that happened between us chasing them and them shooting at us...their government decided we were banned. Simple." She shrugged and stood up. "Anyways. They will be going lights out soon. Best to get to the bunks and retier now."

"Oh ok" sad to see her go, "good night." I watched as she left the room and already started to miss her. I could hear a voice calling out that it would soon be lights out, that meant that the lights in the corridors would go out. I was alone in my room, it was small and I was already lonely, but in closing and locking my door I went to the bed and started to get undressed from my uniform and go into a pair of loose fitting PT gear and curled up into my bed. My eye was still sore as I laid upon the ice pack and wondered, would Duke and them come for me?

Snake was sad to see Sam go, but he had to do it. He treasured their friendship, however, there were things that he couldn't do with her just yet. As he shut the door to his room and went back to his table and kneeled before it and looked at Sam's empty cup he picked it up and placed it on the china tray and then took up his own tea and gently sipped it feeling the warm liquid roll down the back of his throat.

That night....

As night fell and the Joe's returned to their bunks, Sam made her last rounds of the rec room. Making sure things were put away and cleaned up. Satisfied with the clean space, she yawned and headed out for the girls bunks. Arms folded behind her head as she walked, she thought about her tea time with Snake and how badly she wanted to stay the night. She felt lonely already, but she wasn't going to put the pressure on Snake. Sighing, she lowered her arms and gave pause as she heard voices coming from one of the halls. Curious to know which Joe's were still awake, she headed for their voices and saw it was Duke, Rip-who was trying to get them to go back to the bunks, and some others. Plus the new guy. "Oh, no..." She muttered. Duke must have been really injured in his pride if they had kidnapped the new guy already. Curious as to what they planned, Sam followed all the way back to the training grounds. That's when enough was enough.

Lennox, as I had learned from Scarlett, was blind folded but being led through the corridor. From the conversation I could hear, it seemed they were gonna put the poor guy back in the ring for a rematch against Duke. Rip seemed to be the only one with any sense against it. "Hey!!" They paused at seeing me and Rip instantly backed up with his hands at a surrender. "Come on, really? Let it go, Duke!" I growled. "Get him back to the bunks. All of you in fact!"
"It wasn't a fair fight, Sam!"
"Yes it was! You're just missed over what happened to Anna and now you're taking it out on us. Get back to bed, Duke!" Huffing, they took off the cloth over his eyes and turned tail back to the bunks. "You okay?"

My head was in the clouds. First there was me on my bed fast asleep then heard the door opening which made me sit up then came a bright flash of light and then a hood being placed over my head. It was have been an LED flashlight that made me disoriented because next thing I knew I was being wrapped up in a blanket and being carried by two men down the corridor. Squirming only led to Duke cursing at me to stop or else he would give me a 'towel party' and I knew all too well what those were about and obeyed, but then came the sharp orders of some familiar voices and then I saw Sam.

"I'm alright" I replied as I tried to stand up and brush off the blanket. "Thanks. I the to see what would happen if there was a no holds barred kinda of match with that guy" flicking my gaze down the hall towards Duke who had now disappeared. "Could have been worse, I guess, they could have just given me a towel party on my bunk. Would have been inconspicuous."

"Uh...Hehe. I'm not sure how to respond to that. But uh, okay.." I laughed a bit and began to walk back towards the bunks. Trying my best to go a way that would take me past the Hologram room. I didn't need still horny and rowdy guys on me for a piece of real meat. While what happened in the Hologram room was kept secret, sometimes it was no secret at all that it was me or Scarlett who was often chosen to be fucked by these guys. Kind of embarrassing really. I mostly wanted to avoid it because of Connelly. He had a thing for me and wasn't taking no for an answer. Even though Snake had nearly beaten him lifeless one night after Connelly stumbled from the Hologram room before lights out. Horny and admittedly drunk. Assaulted me right there in the rec room for all to see. It was a scary moment.

I went back to my room and shut the door, looking at how they managed to open it. There must have been a master key card. Either way I was going to have trouble falling asleep again after laying down and keeping my face turned towards the door. This was not the way to sleep, constantly on alert to fend off people that were suppose to be your friends.

Snake stayed in his room. After finishing his tea he spent three hour meditating to clear his mind and home his focus. There were rumors about what ninjas could actually do compared to their Hollywood counterparts, but Snake was something above Bruce Lee even. As he sat with his eyes closed and focusing on his thoughts he was going through everything in the past day and correlating them together and pushing away anything that didn't matter. In his mind he could see Scarlett, Sam, Duke, Rip and the new guy Lennox and focused on them trying to read their minds with their body language and then he remembered the face of Connelly in the crowd of the fight and it conjured up memories of how he had to deal with him. The subtle way was to beat him so bad that he would quit and then he tried to have him court-martialed but that fell through for some reason. Seems that Connelly had someone looking out for him.

The next morning....

Come morning, business went on usual. Early showers and work outs just to jump right into training. I had walked to the tech room with Breaker this morning but when we took a break for breakfast, we were joined by Scarlett, then Duke and Rip, followed by Heavy Duty, and last Snake. I have to admit, a very small part of me loved the attention it drew just walking in with my friends. We were like the cool kids everyone wanted to be. Claiming our usual table, some of us waited till the line for food had shortened. Including me. Once it had, I said I would be right back then headed over to grab some chow while the getting was good.

Too bad I didn't expect the morning to go horribly wrong from here.

When I woke up the next day I did some PT and then a quick shower, now my eye had swollen shut and it was numb to touch and impossible to hide as I went down the hall everyone was looking at it and laughing as they knew where it came from. Getting inside the chow hall I stood in line and did not know that just a couple people behind me there was a tall, lanky man named Connelly. He was scanning around and found Sam sitting with Scarlett and the others and at first his heart was elated, but then he saw the unmistakable Snake Eyes sitting with her and he balled his fists and grit his teeth.

I took my try and had my food piled on then I turned around to find a place to sit.

Unlike the others Snake had a rather modest breakfast and had pulled up the bottom of his mask to show only his lips to allow him to eat but unlike the others he sat with his katana blades across his back. Always ready for a fight no matter where he went.

As I approached the line, I saw poor Lennox looking confused and alone..it must have felt like being the new kid in school and trying to find a place to peacefully eat. Well either lucky for him, or bad for him, I smiled and walked over. Pointing him at our table with a laugh. "Go on! Ain't no way I'm letting you sit alone. Just go sit by Scarlett!" I said with a playful, but careful, shove forward. Spinning back around to get my food. I had seen Connelly in line but I tried to ignore him. Hoping he had learned from Snake. For my breakfast, I had chosen some food that reminded me of home. Westerns of ham and cheese and egg, some bacon, toast with grape jelly, and a good cup of coffee. 5 sugars and some creamer.

Nervously I approached the table and all the heads there looked up to see me and Scarlett smiled scooting a bit to the side and said, "Have a seat" which I took. Placing my tray down and looking at all of the faces I tried to recall the names but Scarlett was quick to point out, "That's Snake Eyes and you remember Duke and his friend Rip Cord and Heavy Duty." Duke was biting his lower lip and looking down and I still had a bit of adamosity between us, he was slow to say it but he said, "Listen, i'm sorry for the cheap shot".

"And?" Scarlett replied.

"And for the kidnapping"

"Don't worry about it" I said to which Rip couldn't help but laugh and say, "Two in a row!" holding up two fingers and laughing at how many times he was taken down and then laughed some more when he said, "Make that three now!"

But the laughter was cut short when Scarlett lifted her eyes and saw Connelly in the line near Sam and whispered, "Snake?" pointing with her fork towards the man and the ninja turned around see him and his lips contorted into a frown.

Apparently, Connelly hadn't learned his lesson the first time. As soon as Lennox had left me and I had been served my tray, it was taken from me and I spun to see who had decided I couldn't carry my own food. "Connelly. Give it back!" I said. Stomping my foot like a child. I was really starting to get sick of this happening to me.
"Ah, come on Sammy-"
"I said don't call me that!"
"Let me carry it for you. You can come and sit with me today."
"I don't want to sit with you, now give me my food!" I said. Pushing him as I took back my tray. Shaking my head, already annoyed, I turned to return to the safety of my table when Connelly reached and grabbed me by my upper arm.

Scarlett looked up as Lennox approached the table nervously. But having known Sam would do this, as it was just in her nature, Scarlett smiled and moved over for him. "Have a seat." She watched Lennox see and look around. Obviously trying to place names with faces. "That's Snake Eyes and you remember Duke and his friend Rip Cord and Heavy Duty." Duke was biting his lower lip and looking down. There was still a bit of adamosity between the two. Duke would finally take a breath as he slowly began to say, "Listen, I'm sorry for the cheap shot".
"And?" Scarlett replied.
"And for the kidnapping."
"Don't worry about it. Lennox said, to which Rip couldn't help but laugh and say, "Two in a row!" While holding up two fingers and laughing at how many times he was taken down. Then he laughed some more when he said, "Make that three now!"

But the laughter was cut short when Scarlett lifted her eyes and saw Connelly in the line near Sam and whispered, "Snake?" She motioned over to them with her fork and the ninja turned to look. Frowning as he did so. The table fell silent as they watched the interaction. When Sam had pushed him and took her tray back, they thought that was it and began to relax. Till Connelly suddenly gripped her by her upper arm. The table tensed and looked at Snake as if he became a bomb that would go boom at any second.
"Uh...oh...."
"Homies in for it now..."
"He just doesn't learn..."

Before anyone else could react Snake pulled down his mask and stood up and went for him as Connelly held up his hands at chest level with a wide smile on his lips as he was about to take the tray back from Sam and tacking on, "You're not capable..." but before he could finish saying anything further the towering Snake had moved between him and Sam shielding her from him. Everyone else behind Connelly began backing off knowing that a fight was certain and those sitting at the tables nearby also vacated.

"Oh snap" Rip muttered as his eyes looked at the scene.

"Should we help him?" I turned to Scarlett and asked.

"Help who? Snake? He doesn't need our help" she replied while casually eating her eggs.

I didn't know what exactly she meant because I only knew Snake from our brief tango but looking over at Connelly as he stood before Snake he didn't appear to be backing down so easily. Leaning to the side to see around his frame Connelly laughed, "You getting others to fight your own battles, Sammy?" only to be shoved back by Snake's firm palm to his chest.

Connelly had grabbed my upper arm and I turned to face him. "Let go of me!" I snapped. Yanking my arm free of him.
"Come on, now. You know your not capable-" He never finished as Snake suddenly appeared between us. I blushed lightly and felt flattered he was coming in like a hero to save me. Even if I didn't need it. The general area close to us and around us cleared out and I knew why. Sighing, I set my tray down. "Haha! You getting others to fight your own battles Sammy?" Connelly taunted. He was pushed back by Snake but I HATED being called Sammy. If you weren't family, you couldn't call me that. Simple.
"Shut up! I can fight my own battles. And don't call me that!!!" I said lunging for him. I knocked him to the floor and got in a mean punch before he shoved me and pinned me.
"Well, well. Couldn't wait till we were alone?" I didn't think he would be heavier than me though I should have known considering his build compared to mine.
"Get off me!!" I cried out. Trying to bend my knee to kick him hard off me.

Snake went for him but Connelly and and Sam continued to grapple and he had a vice like grip on her arm, but Snake wanted delivered a firm roundhouse kick to his face with a sickening 'KRACK!' that sent him toppling back but his grip on her arm let go and her arm slammed against the counter where the trays were being stored and they came raining down upon her head. Connelly skid across the tile floor a short distance and couldn't remember anything for a moment.

"Oh crap" Scarlett huffed as she jumped from her seat and went for the fight as Heavy Duty knocked over a table charging over and pinned Connelly to the ground.

Snake turned and helped Sam onto her feet as Connelly continued to squirm trying to get free of Duty's heavy frame to no avail.

"Medic! Doc!" Duke called out after coming to the scene and seeing that Sam was in a lot of pain.

I know Snake was just trying to help, but his kick to Connelly while he had a hold on me probably wasn't smart. Connelly went flying and my arm banged against the counter harshly. Giving a sickening crack as something broke. I screamed and then whimpered as the trays fell on me. Curling into a ball while holding my head, I leaned into Snake as helped me up. "MEDIC! DOC!" I heard Duke yell as he came over to help. I was trying hard not to cry as my free had gripped onto Snake for balance. My arm hurt and was probably broken and now my head raged with a throbbing head ache....the room felt spinny...
"Ah man...She looks dazed."
"Get her to Doc Snake and don't let her eyes close!" Duke warned.

"Grab her arm!" Scarlett said to me and I immediately did so as she took the other. Hoisting her up onto her feet we took her out of the room as Duke and the others surrounded Connelly with a seething rage on their face.

When we got Sam to Doc's office he was counting cultures when his head turned around seeing us bring her in. "Another customer? I swear, Scarlett, you keep me in business here" but there was no humor in the redhead. Standing up and going over to Sam as she was gently laid out on the examining table, still clutching her injured arm and whimpering he put on some latex gloves and touched what was now a bruise on her arm just below her elbow he grimaced, "It might be broken," he said then turned to Scarlett, "What happened to her?"

"Connelly" she sneered, "Connelly attacked her in the chow hall. Grabbed her and Snake kicked him but then her arm smacked the counter and then some trays fell on her."

"Ouch," Doc gasped, "Well, I'll need to give her an X-ray and an examination. I'll let you know what I find."

"Grab her arm!" I heard Scarlett tell Snake, and together the two had me on my feet. Daring a look back, I watched Duke and the others surround Connelly with murderous looks. He would be lucky to make it to the holding cells alive. When we got Doc's office, he was counting cultures before the sound of our arrival made his head turn around.
"Another customer? I swear, Scarlett, you keep me in business here." Doc teased, but there was no humor in my fiery friend. Sighing, Doc stood up and strode over to us as Snake and Scarlett laid me as gently as they could upon the gurni. I was still clutching my injured arm and whimpering in pain as he put on some latex gloves. I nearly screamed when he touched what was now a bruise on my arm just below my elbow. "It might be broken," he said with a grimace before he then turned to Scarlett. "What happened to her?"
"Connelly!" My friend sneered. She was to kill someone or break something if she had a chance. "Connelly attacked her in the mess hall. Grabbed her arm and Snake kicked him but then her arm smacked the counter and then some trays fell on her."
"Ouch." Doc winced. "Well, I'll need to give her an X-ray and an examination. I'll let you know what I find." This meant I was to be alone with him and after what just happened...being alone was not on my list. Letting my arm go, I instantly and gripped onto Snake's hand tightly. Looking at him with a pleading look that begged him not to go and leave me here alone.
"Please..."

Snake nodded. He would stay with her as Doc summoned a nurse to help with the x-ray. Scarlett looked up at the black clad ninja and placed a hand on his shoulder and then slowly walked out. I didn't know anything if they had a past together or not, but Scarlett waved a hand for me to follow her out into the hall where I asked, "What are we going to do?" because when we left, Connelly was being sat on by Heavy Duty. I could have spouted about regulations and what not but Scarlett knew all too well about such things.

Back in the aid station Doc and a nurse were getting the x-ray machine ready. Snake knew that Sam didn't like hospitals of any sorts, though she and he did trust Doc it was something else, perhaps needles and what they could do with such instruments that made her scared but Snake stood right beside her as she sat on the examining table.

I didn't like hospitals. At all. So having Snake beside me, kept me eased enough as they xrayed me. Turns out, my arm was broken. Doc had to have Snake hold me still as the bone was reset and now I was awaiting a cast with sniffles and watery eyes. I had screamed when they reset the bone and had cried in pain shortly there after. I wasn't exactly pleased and I was fairly pissed off. I knew I wouldn't be aloud to help Breaker from base, as I would surely be put on temp. suspension for my broken arm. It's a Bitch typing one handed. I was going to be a very bored girl who just wouldn't know what to do with herself while the team was out today.

When the bone was set and then her arm wrapped in a cast it would take a while before the plaster would dry and until that time Snake continued to stay at her side. During the long wait, and seeing the tears on Sam's cheeks as they rolled down he tapped her shoulder and signed, "Connelly was brought before General Hawk and he's going to be court-martialed. I don't know what will happen to him after that, but it doesn't look like it will end well for him. When you were taken out, Duke had a few minutes alone with him. When we're done here, come to my place and we'll have some green tea. It will help with the pain."

Outside I was following Scarlett around. Right now I had not been assigned to anyone so I followed the redhead around as we went back to the mess hall. They had cleaned up the mess from the fight and there we found Heavy Duty polishing off the remnants on everyone's plates. When we stood before them, his eyes widened as he put aside the plate next to a stack of others that had been licked clean he was a bit embarrassed but said, "What? I'm a growing boy"

Feeling a tap to my shoulder, I would turn my head and look at Snake. Reading his hands, I would nod and smile a little. "Thank you. I would appreciate that. And...Snake, thank you for staying with me. I know you could be elsewhere doing something better than this..." I sniffle. Feeling more like a cry baby then the confident woman I had felt the night before.

Scarlett shook her head and laughed a bit at the very muscled man. "Tell me you at least saved Sam's. Poor girl hasn't even eaten yet before that pig messed up the morning. We're one tech short today." Scarlett said. Folding her arms over her chest.
