Keep talking. The longer you speak, the more accurately I can gauge you.

So far I detect a pedestrian texas-type trailer-trash (or texas-type lawyer-trash) mentality.

Ouch.

I know. If u are a good person, forgive my venom- got a low tolerance for shitheads.

So I have been elevated from trailer trash to shithead. I guess I can live with that.

I think the lesson learned from Jimmy Carter and the post Carter- pre Clinton years was that the democrats cannot run a successful campaign on ideas alone, but must really on a personality to sell a "feel good" message.

You piss on the Democrats. Well, tell me please, where the thousand points of light ever got us? I put this type of bullshit on the same level as "compassionate conservatism."

If you buy either, you are just plain stupid. Seems to me the Republicans might win more to their ranks if they treated people as intelligent beings. But they do not. They assume we are all idiots willing to buy their cheap line of crap. The truth is that they do not give a shit about anything except for their own portfolios.

If not portfolio, then they are fundementalist gangbangers wanting to turn us into a nation of jesus-freaks.

Thats why I hate political discussions because with some people you are not allowed to voice your opinion without getting called names. That is really uncalled for Riff. What about the Democrats who believe government knows whats best for you and most people do not have enough intelligence to figure out how to raise their kids, etc. Etc. I believe in Jesus, I don't consider myself a freak, obviously I believe in a lot of "liberal" ideas or I would not be here. Please keep the discussions with good debate, not a bunch of name calling. Why can't you just agree to disagree instead of getting your panties all bunched up?

I didn't take offense to being called a shithead. I guess sometimes I am!

My apologies. All names withdrawn. My panties get bunched up because there is no such thing as a "fair" fight. Name-calling is all a part of it- as if being progressive was a crime.

I guess since I dont apologize followed up with an insult I am not "progressive"? Come on Riff, I don't agree with you on everything. Your apology sucks since it was not sincere. If I become really bitchy, will that be progressive? I by nature don't behave that way. Most people who know my call me "good hearted". Is there no one you believe to be logical that does not have your political point of view?

And your "name" is?

Have a nice day!

Cheney paid more in taxes last year than he'd make as VP in 8 years. I know it's hard to believe, but there are conservatives in politics who are there to serve and not to make a buck.

Of course, if Bill Clinton whores himself out to the speech circuit at $250,000 a pop producing nothing but a few jokes that's just capitalism at work. Or when an actor lines his pockets with 20,000,000 dollars for a movie that's chalked up to the free enterprise system. Or if Hillary - who isn't shy about spending taxpayers money while still cashing 5$ checks for the legal defense fund from widow women, signs a 8 million dollar book deal then no one talks about profit motives.

But let a business try to make a profit and all of a sudden it's an evil enterprise that's somehow pushing down the poor oppressed working people. Perhaps you truly believe that government knows best and should exercise more control over our dollars and our economic freedoms. California bragged about being the energy model for the country when they first starting fucking around with price caps.

And there are many conservatives who take positions 180 degrees from the Jesus freaks. But seldom in the liberal rolls do you see them stepping away from a liberal plank. Unless it's a southern democrat in an election year like Max Cleland from GA who has had voted left of Ted Kennedy, but is facing a tough election in 2002 and now has his tongue firmly up Bush's ass.

I've been wanting to write on this topic for several days. Jimmy Carter is one of my all-time favorite American figures.

If not for Jimmy, we wouldn't have had Billy Beer. Now maybe we can have Jenna Beer.

They still sell that shit on ebay.

Lavender, I stand corrected. He is no Jimmy Carter. But a globalist! Okay, you are right what an idiot because everyone is now using that stance to beat us about the head and shoulders with. I fear the UN because Bill Clinton may want to become the leader of that. :) .

Why be intelligent when WriteDom does a much better jog than I ever could.

‘cause he’s smarter than me too!

jenna beer

you gotta luv it

:)

leaders and ex-presidents

I'm still wondering who exactly is the "leader" in the UN. It couldn't govern if it had to and, of course, it was never established for that purpose. Rather, it was a second attempt at the failed league of nations with many visions which, even today, are shared by many of the member nations. The US, and several other nations, still have the power to outvote the entire UN with its veto. That's a pretty powerful gavel.

As for Mr Carter. Personally I don't think there has ever been a president with more integrity or willingness to practice what he preaches. I was with the US Sixth Fleet when the hostages were taken and it was my battle group that deployed to the Indian Ocean. At the time I despised Carter for not acting decisively and, perhaps, his efforts weren't the right ones for the situation. I don't know. Perhaps he was the wrong person at the wrong time.

In the years since he has built houses with Habitat for Humanity and monitored elections throughout Latin America. Years before the botched presidential election he commented that the US would never have tolerated elections in Latin America that were held the way they are in the US. The problems he noted with ballots and procedures came to haunt the country as the rest of the world watched a country that couldn't even elect a leader.

I will refrain from judging him as a president because I wasn't in a very objective role at the time, but as a man (person) there are few if any I hold higher respect for.
