In my humble opinion, therein is our problem...

We all think we understand God, understand Jesus, understand glory, power, wisdom, strength...divinity...sacrifice....redemption...love...

and we attempt to pass on our own understanding off on others...

and if others don't understand it the way we do, then they are the ones that are screwed up, not us...

I have only the slightest understanding, for all that God has had his hand on my head since birth...but i have only the barest of understanding...

All i know, is that he loves me, and that love is echoed in the love i have for my own children...I know how i love my kids, and I know that's nothing compared to how much God loves me

And nobody, nothing can change that...

And yeah, sometimes my kids make royal mistakes, and the trouble they get themselves into is often punishment enough, without any additional groundings from me...so, yeah, sometimes we do get ourselves into the shit we are sometimes in...but God loves us anyway...

KM, your physical ailments are not God's punishment for you. Anyone that's telling you that is full of it...I've been to an AG church, not all of them are spouting that nonsense...

All I remember on this is from a questionable source to say the least. There is a scene in Inherit the Wind (Ahhh...Spencer Tracey...they don't make 'em like that no more)where Henry Drummond has Brady on the stand and backs him into a corner. He gets him to admit that God created first the sun, and then the heavens, and the firaments...and yadda yadda yadda. But, it wasn't until the third day that God put them all together and created night and day, seasons and such. So, without our understanding of days to go by, those first two "days" could have been millions of years. This made evolution acceptable enough for the Scopes-Monkey trials.

MP - Thank you for bringing up one of my all-time favorite movies, starring one of my all-time favorite actors (Not to mention Gene Kelly, too!). The recent remake with Jack Lemmon and the late George C. Scott (another great one!) couldn't hold a candle to it.

You are either a very discerning, highly intelligent young lady or you are showing your age.
