Good Erotic Movies

Belle de jour by Luis Buñuel (1967). Catherine Denueve plays a Parisienne doctor's wife who begins to work part time as a prostitute to relieve her sexual fantasies. Denueve is exquisite as is the gangster who falls for her, he wears purple socks in one fave scene. Trick ending. I watch this film once a year, it's like a poem.

Perdita,

You know what's nice? I'll never have to pick between the two. IMHO, Belle de jour is the better film, and I share your feelings about the divine Denueve. But for me, "A Man and a Woman" is more sensuous, and Aimee ain't exactly chopped liver.

Rumple Foreskin

Rumply, I'm just not a sentimental gal, your film doesn't do it for me. But purple socks on a skinny French bad boy... oh la la.

Perdita :)

Shudder. You didn't have to remind me. That might the the only image capable of distracting my attention away from Denueve.

The Thief kills the Lover. The Cook and the Wife cook the Lover and serve him to the Thief.

(It's actually a damned good movie, but not what I would call erotic.)

There's a great sleeper comedy made during the 80's called "Eating Raoul" about a couple who decide to earn some extra money by advertising her services as a dominatrix. Things go badly with a customer named Raoul, and, well, etctera.

It's not bloody or even sexy. it's just kitsch fun.

Two thumbs up.

jeffreysub you may enjoy some of Tinto Brass' erotic films from the mid eighties and nineties, I've just posted a review of Miranda if you'd like to read it. His films are very sexy, feature sexually capable women and are humorous. He says in an interview that his films have happy endings because he doesn't believe in guilt. I loved Miranda and am looking forward to watching more of his work. You can rent through Greencine.com or purchase through Cult Epics or Amazon.

Review of Miranda

Tinto Brass: I'm a great fan. He's a cross between Fellini and Benny Hill.

I have peculiar taste when it comes to erotica, so consider yourself forewarned. Many contain little to no sex, and are very wordy with a high pyschological factor.

Dangerous Liasons There are 4 versions of this, but the only one I wouldn't recommend is "Cruel Intentions." Denueve fans might prefer the original, Malcovich fans, the second, and Firth fans, the third (which is difficult to find and goes by the title of "Valmont.")

It's basically about a couple who get off on manipulating their conquests, and each other.

L'Ennui Foriegn, and recieved horrid reviews, but I don't care. I liked it.

A Philosopher becomes obsessed with a painter's model in his pursuit to unlock the reasons behind the man's attraction to her.

Girl With a Pearl Earring I don't know if this one is actually even classified as erotic, but still the hottest movie I have seen to date.

A theory behind the creation of the famous painting. Click Flick squared.

Blue Velvet Sort of a thriller/suspense theme. BDSM fans might like it.

The King's Mistress A king becomes obsessed with a poor peasant girl. Little sex, but extreme power exchange element.

Caligula You'll either love it, or throw up. Maybe both.

Yui: If you enjoyed Quills, you might appreciate the foriegn film titled "Sade." I'm just assuming you have already seen "The Secretary."

Good list. Loved "Blue Velvet."

I have a terrible memory for names, but two French films I've seen in the last five years have been incredibly hot, and they also made me think about sexuality a lot.

One, by a woman director, was a story about a masochistic nymphomaniac who goes in search of... love, I guess.

The other was about a 30-something guy's obsession with a pretty ordinary young girl. That one had about thirty fucks a minute in it.

You are such a tease, Joe. Getting me all worked up with the descriptions like that, and then forgetting the titles. I think maybe "Sub Joe" has a bit of sadist in him after all.

Foriegn flicks rank highest in the erotica department for some reason. Always the first isle I go to when I enter the movie store, and always in stock too, since most people hate them.

I'll dig up those film titles, becuase you're sexy and cute and a dombait.

Much appreciated.

P.S. I caught that pun. Do it again, and I'll take you across my knee, bad boy.

Someone recommended "The Pillow Book."

Has anyone here seen it?

Yes. It's divine. Very erotic and at the same time disturbing. But not as disturbing as Cook, Thief et. al.

The woman director is Catherine Breillat, and the film is called Romance.

Catherine Breillat

Thank you, thank you! I have been wanting to get my hands on that one, but it's difficult to find here and I keep missing it when it airs on the tele.

You likely would enjoy the one I mentioned previously, "L'Ennui." According to the reviews, it bares a striking resemblance to "Romance" and "Last Tango in Paris" in style.

God, I'm so stupid. L'Ennui was the name of the other film I mentioned. With the high fuck count. Guess I didn't pay much attention to the story!

Actually I think you're more of a double-ended switchhook, so I better look out.

Valerie Quennessen was the french girl in the movie. She was also the princess in Conan the Barbarian and had a good role in French Postcards. She had also done some TV in France. Unfortunately she was killed in an auto accident in 1989.

Sad. She was a very sexy woman.
Thanks Dran, I'm far too lazy to go look something up. Well, unless it's for the porn research.

Summer Lovers is a good choice Scarlett. And Thiefs of Hearts, I'd forgotten that. Wonderful.

Also, Wild Orchid, lame Mickey Rourke movie, but hot sex.

And almost any Brazillian film with Sonia Braga, especially I love you .

And for lots of naked women, and goofy fun, "The Perils of Gwendoline in the Land of the Yik Yak" with the enticing Tawny Kitaen (Charged with domestic violence after allegedly beating athlete husband, also dated OJ Simpson).

Aside to Sincerely_Helene: interesting choices. You intrigue and frighten me, which only intrigues me all the more.
