Crane struts on lake bed,
Pecks water for food morsels,
Finished, looks for more.

Spring cannot arrive:
Winds and sun wrestle, restless...
Fuck. Snow? In April?

Small things tell the tale:
Sighs. Gasps. Twitches. Tiny signs,
All mean "Keep going."
