all my educational christian videos i watch so often.

the video will play and then pause, then play, then pause. that's a problem. it runs out of buffer in front of the video and the playing time part runs into the edge of the buffer and pauses.

i think it's my 'physical memory usage.' i have plenty of ram. hard drive is not full. i cleaned out my recycle bin and temporary files. the physical memory usage line on the task manager is still medium. it used to be lower. i shut off a lot of extra programs that were loading automatically.

my hard drive was filling up. i had the restore points on. i took that off and got 20 gb back. but the computer seems to have adjusted itself to having less hard drive space still.

even loading lit pages is slower. it was running much faster a few months ago.

dammit. this sucks. all videos are slow.

no viruses. everything is up to date. virus scans are fine.

still does it when i restart. i stopped any unnecessary programs from starting.

stupid damn computers.

I'm definitely not a computer expert, but my computer was running slow today. When I complained to someone who knew more about computers, he looked at it and said it was because it was downloading and installing windows updates. Could that be it?

it's already got updates. damn thing. something automatically adjusted itself and put more memory away from video download buffering.

*thinks again about writing a nasty letter to microsoft, a letter about how they've interrupted my wanking again, those bastards*

These may be things you've done already, forgive me if I state the obvious you may have already done. Does the problem lessen after you reboot the computer? Sometimes a good, clean reboot helps things.

Are you watching videos streaming online or ones you downloaded to your computer? Because I know of one website that I gave up on because the videos streaming from there are always choppy, while I don't have that problem at other websites.

When did this problem start with your computer?
Have you installed any new programs or made changes to your computer lately around the time the problem started?

Do you need to update whatever video viewing program you're using ? (Windows Media Player, Winamp, Real Player, Adobe Flash Player, etc.)

try running ccleaner http://www.ccleaner.com/download, it will clear out all the cache files on your system, perhaps there is just too much built up over time. beware, this software can clear cookies too, losing your stored forms, usernames and passwords- read before just clicking cleanup.

yeah, lots of reboots. and i caught the startup programs and stopped them right away. that helps.

i have vista. there's a program that predicts what you're going to use and preloads it. you're not supposed to stop it from running.

these are videos through the internet. doesn't seem to matter what site.

it did get a little better yesterday. maybe the computer learned i really did click on a lot of videos so it should devote more memory to videos.

could be some ms word updates i did too. that was fairly recent. but it really seemed to slow down when the hard drive was about 80% filled. then i stopped the restore points because it was filling up and i read that that would get rid of unnecessary restore point info, althuogh it means i can't revert back now either. unless i resume restore point, but it will start filling up again. i got 50% of the hard drive free now but it still slowed it down. it's like the settings didn't go back after i undid the restore points.

recycle bin is clean too.

What you are describing is likely to be slow internet. The video is playing at a faster rate than your connection can load it to your machine. This may be because a number of reasons

A- a physical network problem in your house
B- your net speed is slowed by your provider (they do it if you download heaps)
C- the internet box you connect to, or any between you and your hosts are having transmission problems.

it did get a little better yesterday. maybe the computer learned i really did click on a lot of videos so it should devote more memory to videos.

That is inaccurate.

It's probably one of these 3 reasons or it could just be that the 1 site you are using for downloading jesus tunes is having connection problems itself. Best thing to do is to make sure you expand your horizons to other religions just in case your starting religion starts to tard out on you electronically speaking.

Theres plenty of others, but make sure you keep your eyes and ears open, alone with your hands firmly clenched on thou holy organ when dealing with such divine problems.

it's all videos. sucks. sometimes it does seem to get a little better but it's not playing any video straight through without a few stops. i think some virtual memory or space where it can store more in the buffer changed on me.

Have you tried running a defrag lately? When mine gets bad like that, I'l do a disk clean-up, and then run the defrag program twice in a row, and it helps a lot.

are you using firefox by chance? I had the same issue some time back and apparently it's a common problem with FF. Here's the fix I got off firefox support forums. So if you use firefox read on.

1. in the browser address bar type: about:config
2. filter by typing browser.sessionstore in the filter field.
3. look for browser.sessionstore.interval in the remaining entries.
4. double click the entry under value (it's 10,000ms by default-or 10 sec). You can change it to 100,000ms (10 mins) or to 0 to disable it.

What this does is it creates a backup of your tabs in case you crash. It does it every 10 seconds by default which causes the video skip. Changing the value should fix the problem. Hope this helps you out.

i have IE.

the defrag. yeah, i forgot about that. i did the error check and never got around to the defrag. i'll have to try it. that would make sense.

Oh, and please get rid of IE....it sucks! I upgraded to IE7 and everything went to shit! I use Chrome now and it's SOOOO much better! Even FireFox is better than IE!

Chrome ?? Where have I been ? Hadn't heard that Google was doing a browser. Will have to check this out ! I learned something today from you.

:D

I highly recommend it. IE7 was just awful and I had so many problems with it. My fiance talked me into trying Chrome and I've never looked back. It really has some great features. He introduced to me Gmail too...much better than my Yahoo mail!

problem solved :D
Just get firefox, chrome or opera; it's a matter of preference which is better.

*wants to know what that fourth is.* it must be pretty good if it got blocked out.

fucking computer. i defragged many times. no luck. videos go, then pause, then go, then pause. the computer's not working very hard in the task manager. network speed stuff looks normal.

i tried firefox. no luck. it goes and stops just like IE was.

this sucks. i can't figure it out. maybe i'll just reformat the whole computer but that seems a little extreme.

One time I had problems with videos for a while, then it turns out my Apple Quicktime video browser add on hadn't been updated properly. Researched the question online, found out that the browser (Firefox) had to be *closed* when the update was installing. Have you made sure any video related programs or browser add ons are properly updated ? Check for updates, make sure they're current. Reformatting seems extreme, unless you're having problems with the computer in general, across applications, all the time?

Try Chrome. If a different browser doesn't work, defraging doesn't work, and nothing else you have tried works...have you tried checking your internet speed? If it is running slow, or bogging down for some reason, that could cause your problems.

Have you updated your video player? I had that same problem until I updated my player. Do a search in Windows about how to update it.

^that is good advice.
I was also wondering exactly how much RAM you had?
