Here We Go Veep Debate 2020

I have to admit that I was trying to avoid wasting my time paying attention to politics this year. But Kamala Harris is really that good. I'd be happy and proud to have her run the country I live in.

Pence saying they have "always" told the American people the truth is just a whopper of a lie.

one of many spilling from his mouth

Trump and Pence both know that the moderators are so terrified about the "liberal media" charge that they absolutely will not enforce the rules.
i have fumed during this... if i were moderator, i'd be flippin' strict with both: answer the damned question you've been asked and shut the fuck up when your time is up! have some fucking manners, ffs!

I can’t. I had to screen shot that and text it to the fella because the youngest munchkin is watching with us. He laughed and then laughed a second time 30 seconds later.
*snerk*

Pence is actually not a bad debater because he's disciplined and he has the humble Midwestern thing going for him (you can see Harris pulling her punches because she's understandably worried about the "angry black woman" charge).

But he's playing a really weak hand.
he's doing his best, bless him and has praised his feuhrer a gazillion times too, aw

Pence: Let not answer that question at all and spew another talking point, again.
that question they both avoided...the 'have you had "the conversation" with your boss about you taking their job if they can't do it anymore one. thing is, why are tehy making such a huge deal about the men's ages? health, i could go with, but just because someone's in their 70's doesn't mean they're likely to pop their clogs next week! loads of people live, with their marbles intact, well into their 90's. not that trump's marbles are all there to begin with.

Notice how she looks at him often when talking about their administration, and when she does Pence turns his face the opposite direction.
uhuh :D

Kamala is nailing him, yes, that orange piece of shit thinks military folks are a bunch of losers.

Pence looks sick.

What is it with Repug men speaking out of turn and not following rules?
how can such a 'religious' man lie so much and not fall on his knees to pray for forgiveness? oh, i know, he's just another religious charlatan who's all about talk and not do

I wonder what the women of America are thinking watching Pence continually butting in and ignoring the female moderator.
well you can imagine what i'm thinking and i'm not even an american, just living here!

It is sure interesting to see Republicans dodging questions about abortion, even as they are on the verge of getting what they've promised for over 40 years.
yeahhhh, slip'n'slide around that one but throw out that biden and harris support abortion right up to the point of birth??? fucking great big pants on fire LIAR!

Anyone here anything about their plan for protecting people with preexisting conditions?
newp

I don't want to say Pence is unhealthy, but a fly just landed on his head.
lolol

Nah, Pence has been rotting away on the inside, before Trump and coronavirus-
that talk radio hosting gig had to be won at a steep price.

oopsie

There's really no good way to answer that question and I don't blame either candidate for not engaging with it. The voters need to know that the veeps are being kept in the loop just in case something happens, but it's not like she has to sit down with Joe like you're talking about putting Dad in a nursing home. Biden will have his job and Harris will have hers.

I heard the debate. Didn't watch it because I was working on something else faced away from the TV. I get the idea I would have been more entertained by watching it.

reading Aglaopheme's link to twitter

my response- hahahaha ha hah hahahahaha

Nicole Wallace just said Pence seemed flaccid, and Rachel said it again in agreement.

I think that is a correct assessment.

she could have just said, of course, it's standard business and we talk about all aspects of doing our jobs well... then moved on. at least she'd have answered it in contrast to pence's avoidance. let's face it, the only conversation pence may have had with trump over a taking over the reins would be:

trump: outta my cold dead hands

just a drive-by fly-on-the-hair thang :D

Fairly certain that up tick in Pence mentions started when the fly landed.

Still looking for the actual amount of time each of them spoke for, because I am a data geek through and through.

They will have to hide the fly video from Trump, or Trump will exile Pence from the WH

1 It was a debate, not a rant so some credit to both of them.

2 They both avoided questions, she on the court he on the virus in particular.

3 Pence did a bit of mansplaining which wasn't too clever. Harris pulled her punches fairly obviously several times (sensible, but more fun if she had not)

4 Pence wanted to talk economy though I was a bit surprised she didn't hammer 20 million+ unemployed harder

5 My conclusion is that Harris had much to lose, a substantial 'D' lead, and her relatively passive performance was a sound defence of that. The Trump camp needs a breakthrough/win, because they are playing catch up, and Pence did not get one.

So this event was inconclusive in itself which strategically suits the Democrats more.

The question is fully relevant for Pence (and damning). I don't think it means much for Biden/Harris, though. They aren't in office, they're running for office. This isn't a point at which I'd expect them to even bring that question up. I think Harris didn't answer the question because, in fact, they haven't discussed it and didn't see any reason to in this phase. Trump's been on oxygen and is now on drugs seeming to make him even crazier than usual. Cheney took over formally when Bush did no more than have a colonoscopy. Trump/Pence shouldn't just have discussed this. Pence (unless he's got Covid now too) should be holding the reins right this moment.

.
Pence also had pink eye, which is one possible indicator of Covid.

The incubation period for Covid is 2-14 days.

Hmmm....
