Here's How Donald Trump Could Become President

Assuming history doesn't come down and gift wrap something for you I think middling is about what we should expect from most government officials. Very few of them are in positions to make significant moves alone

Unless they are hooking their billionaire buddies up with legislation/funding.

They got that shit down perfectly.....

It's amazing they can whore out legislation and tax loopholes/subsidies/breaks and insano licencing/regulation so well yet they can't seem to do much better than half assed over priced buuushit when it comes to actually serving the people at large.

Best part is not a single fucking one of them is responsible for any of it....every one of them points at the other team and blames them.

Those moves go largely unnoticed though in both the long and short run. But yes they can hook people up.

I don't find it insane. It's a lot easier for me to hook my brother up with a job at my old office than it is to rid the streets of homeless people.

To be serious for a moment, this is the most interesting and entertaining presidential election year I have ever been witness to, by far. The elites in both major parties have been shitting their pants in fear for months, mostly of Donald Trump, but also of Bernie Sanders, to a lesser degree. The Democrats had their safety blanket in the form of super delegates, so were a little less worried, understandably, about Bernie than the Republicans were about Trump. After Tuesday in Indiana the elites in both parties will have only one threat to worry about. His name is Trump. It's going to get even more interesting and entertaining. Much more.

The founders of our country feared nothing more than democracy. Elites always fear democracy. Always. They had every reason to fear it then, and they have every reason to fear it now. It is the enemy of the elite. Always has been, always will be.

This presidential election year is a little like democracy. Just a little. It will be interesting to see if even that will be tolerated, in the end.
Out of the Republican field, Trump is the most elite. I'm not sure what your point is.

100%

All the squabbles in DC is for the benefit of the voters in their respective States. Reality is none of them care to know, or have the capacity to understand the actual legislation. It is written by lobby firms lawyers and put on the floor after aides cut deals with each other.

My point? It's perfectly obvious Trump is not even a "true" Republican, much less an elite one. He is anathema to the Party elites. Same as Sanders for the Democrats. Outsiders trying to upset carefully laid plans.

Except this isn't really true nor is it remotely a good thing.

Of course it's true. Neither Trump nor Sanders could remotely be considered insiders in the Republican or Democratic parties. Whether or not it's a good thing that they are not party insiders is another matter.

I don't buy for a second that Trump doesn't know this game and Sanders has been in for ages. They are outsiders to varying extents to the parties but oh teh well.

Trump's unfavorable rating among women has climbed from 58% when he announced his campaign last year to 70% now, which is a modern record.

Anyone who thinks Trump can win with 30% of the female vote is clearly delusional.

He's getting ahead of her in polling...

;)

Look out for a brain cloud Joe!

Meanwhile, back on reality-based Planet Earth....

...A recent poll was conducted by the Associated Industries of Florida, a prominent business group in the state, and they found that Hillary Clinton would defeat Trump by a 49% to 36% margin if the election were held today. Clinton tops Cruz by nearly 10 points in that same poll.
<snip>
If these numbers are even remotely accurate, the Republicans can’t win in November....If Clinton wins Florida and carries the 19 states (plus D.C.) have voted for the Democratic presidential nominee in each of the last six elections, she will be the 45th president. It’s that simple…And here’s the underlying math. If Clinton wins the 19 states that every Democratic nominee has won from 1992 to 2012, she has 242 electoral votes. Add Florida’s 29 and you get 271. Game over.

Spin that.

I will predict:

After the first debate, Hillary's numbers will go up even further.

And if Texas makes good on its threat to secede, there will never be another Republican President.

I predict surprises. YUGE surprises. I dunno quite what -- or they wouldn't be surprises. Possibilities (which I've previously mentioned): disaster, death, dismemberment, indictment, insanity (when someone quits their meds), major fuckups, blackmail, tarantula invasion (but no zombies), divine | demonic intervention, or The Singularity.

They will also be much lying and cheating, but those are expected.

Loss of federal money. Loss of all defense contractors. Loss of all military bases. Loss of all military equipment to the National Guard. Loss of quite a few corporations. Add on a Republic of Texas income tax to finance the state.

Texas will never secede from the USofA.

Trump won in Indiana a lot more easily than I thought he would. According to exit polls, he even won among those I thought might vote for Cruz, the highly religious conservatives. Watching the talking heads exploding on TV is something else. Some of them are really losing it. Trump is driving them crazy.

As well it should be. It's like watching an old horror film. You know back when "Lets split up and look for clues" was considered a brilliant plan.

President Trump. Well at that point there will be no logical reason not to send Paul Blart to run the UN.

Check out the results as they come in for Vigo County. It's a bellwether for the entire country. Right now Trump is killing it on the GOP side, and Sanders is shading Hillary on the other side. Very interesting.

While some of you are handwringing over a Trump nomination or dare I say it, President Trump? He can do no worse than Obama and will be far more entertaining. :D

I'm not handwringing. I just find this interesting, and yes, entertaining. But I think you're probably right. The fear of a Trump presidency is a bit hysterical, in my opinion.

Yep, that's the story for the next news cycle: the hardcore fundies, usually Cruz's staunchest supporters, appear to have deserted him in droves for Trump.

Not sure what that means, really.

Hey, I love the idea of a Trump nomination.

He's kicked over the rock and exposed all the cockroaches to the light.

This country is full of fucking deplorable people, and they're gonna be out in force over the next six months.
