I hear a lot of similar statements from the twenty something crowd on facebook. The good news is they weren't likely to vote in the first goddamn place so there is that.

I disagree. I'm 100% certain my kids would vote in November if Bernie by some miracle were to beat Hillary for the nomination. I'm pretty sure most of those twenty somethings you mentioned would also.

Statistics tell us otherwise. Now of course this is an odd election and even if it wasn't anything could always happen at any time. If we play the odds though young people have better things to do than bother voting.

Hell even now we're not seeing huge surges in the primaries . An argument can be made that many of them didn't bother because why? I 'm kind of shocked Bernie plans on staying in long enough for me to cast my by then utterly meaningless ballot. Not even sure if I'm thankful or not since I'm not sure several months more of him tearing down Hillary instead of pushing her carcass across the finish line is acceptable.

Still this is one scenario that we'll have to wait and see.

"An anonymous congressman has dropped a bombshell election-year book that confirms why Americans hate their national government and have rallied to anti-establishment presidential candidates like Donald Trump.

The veteran politician lays bare a rotten and corrupt Congress enslaved by lobbyists and interested only in re-election in an anonymous, 65-page manifesto called “The Confessions of Congressman X.”

“Like most of my colleagues, I promise my constituents a lot of stuff I can never deliver,” he admits. “But what the hell? It makes them happy hearing it . . . My main job is to keep my job.”

The House member — a Democrat who is either still in Congress or served sometime over the past two decades — says more time is spent fund-raising than reading bills and calls Washington a “sinkhole of leeches.”
