Really? That's pretty cool, given the time period we're talking about. Back in the early frontier days.
In other news, I just got off the phone with a very nice park ranger at the Springfield Armory NHS. The Krag is in original configuration, was made in 1898, probably late summer, possibly used in the Spanish-American War or the Philippine Insurrection, and most likely purchased as surplus in the 20's, 30's, or 40's.

Root causes
From the blue on the trigger guard it looks like yours hasn't been carried much nor any wear on the stock at the balance point. Have a gunsmith check it and try XX gr of H-414 and a fed 215M with a 200 gr ***** 311299. You ought to be able to break 2200 fps in that 30 inch barrel.
That will put down most anything inside 200 yards!

I was just looking at that also. I love the idea, and I want one of those also, but I was thinking the Double Tap would be something I could fit in a back pocket. Light and small enough to actually carry without bothering with a holster and stuff.

Yeah, I was thinking of that as well. The buddy who sold me the PPK did so because he has the Ruger LCP, says it's super portable. He carries it in a cargo pocket. The PPK is just a mite too large and heavy for that. But the knockdown power of that .45 is tempting, especially when you're limited to two before reloading.

Yes they are, suppose to have less recoil since the barrel is on bottom. I haven't seen anybody at the range with one yet.

I'm trying to work out why that would reduce recoil. Muzzle flip I could understand, but recoil is the whole weapon, no?

They say recoil but I'm with you,muzzle flip would be reduced more than recoil.
