Noise....so much noise to last a life time within a city that never sleeps. Someone is always awake, someone is always running, someone is always loving and someone is always moving. The noise will lead you to places you never new even existed. The sound of animals howling in the night, the sound of moaning in a cheap room with a busted air unit. The noise would lead you to a fight between two people who have always hated each other. The noise would lead you to someone praying in an alley way for a second chance at life. It would lead you anywhere but when you follow the brightest lights to the loudest noise of New York...you find the heart.
The veins of concrete bumping bodies to the heart of the city. Lights that you could see from space guided the blood of the city back to the heart. A thousand spots to drink, smoke and forget every trouble you had for a few hours. Tonight the the blood flowed to a particularly popular club this night. A three story building made of pristine architecture down to the last tile, filled with the blood of the city.
Pure electronic conducted to become music of this day and age. Blue neon spelled out one of the highlights of the city. The Garden, silhouettes of elegant figures male and female danced behind flowing curtains, every now and again you could see flesh if the wind caught it just right. Lines of heels and two hundred dollar shoes just waiting for a chance to get in. Noise followed each pair of heels with the tap tapping of their phones, texting to find out where their dates were...telling parents they would be home soon. Maybe half might make it back to the right spot with how quick the crowds gathered.
As a 4 Saleen S7 Twin Turbo was driven off by the valet, behind it came a beginning to rust call a cab with ornamental Persian rug covers. As heads turned for all the wrong reason, quick giggles and laughs. Hopping out of the backseat wearing a pair of khaki's, a black polo and touching the ground first was a pair of black vibram five finger shoes. Barely towering over the taxi at 5'5 his pale green eyes quickly glanced, a lifetime of details to be had but he just needed the quick details. How many guns, how much security...anyone lurking where he couldn't see...not likely, not tonight. The fellow looked to be in his late 20's with a pale complexion; a built frame against the tight shirt. A few scars showed on his arms as well as a long patch of dark veins on his right arm. Defined muscle for what flesh was exposed, stout for a small guy. He had sharp cheek bones and goatee on his chin well trimmed.
He put his hand through his short black hair, pulling out a cigarette a quick spark of his zippo and a moment of concentration. Just a second longer to let the eyes forget about the person who didn't wear money. Just a second to get his heart pumping, a second longer to drown out all the noise. It was almost unbearable...it never got easy, taught him to focus though. Closing his eyes he took his first step forward and took in his first breath of the night. Like moving muscles covered in dusty ash, reminding his diaphragm to help move his lungs. As he exhaled he began to flow like water...a wolf in sheep's clothing, or by the bystanders account a sheep.
The fellow approached the 6'2 door man who already had his eyebrow raised. The doorman didn't even bother tapping his ear piece...yet. Looking up at the practically signed line backer he couldn't help but chuckle. A part of him told him to shut the fuck up but as he was face to torso with the doorman he couldn't help it. Finishing his drag and breathing smoke away he spoke up.
"Shift change." With a simple smile on his face and flicking his cigarette he didn't follow up. The doorman almost cracked a smile but he took a quick breath and look back at the joker.
The doorman spoke up frankly. "Takes more then jokes to get in...specially alone. Back of the line." As resistance came his way, the fellow took another drag and nodded his head.
"Tell Rez that Nox is here." The door man paused in his tracks, for a second and Nox just nodded up at the building. Raising a large hand to the ear piece he began to whisper. He looked away for a moment then back to this short man. After a few seconds the door man slowly stepped aside and Nox put out his cigarette between his fingers. "Much obliged."
Few of the people in front cursed openly, girls scowled but Nox didn't even pay attention to that. He had to concentrate on the blasting impact of pure bass that was going to hit him. He had been able to hear during the taxi ride. The first beat was like flashbang gernade going off in his head. The rally of a hundred voices trying to yell over the music. An inward growl left him as he got used to the noise...the noise that lead him back here.

The dance floor was a writhing sea snake of bodies as the bass controlled them. That damn noise...the area was a myriad of lights and glass bottles. Nox closed his eyes...like a bat staring into a flood light. Opening his eyes he made his way through the people, every now and then catching a glance around. The security was tight, metal detectors and plenty of back up inside. He made his way along the walls, sticking to the shadows did well for him. With all the movement around him it never really felt safe in a club. By the look of the people dancing you would have thought it was the end of the world.
He flashed his watch out to check the time, 11:37 he was early for once. His pale eyes glanced up to look over the area. Rez would be on the on the second floor vip; it was always his spot. He still had less then an hour, too much time to spare. A sigh left his lip as he was gonna be stuck here for awhile. The fellow made his way to the bar, luckily with the placed filled to capacity there were so many bars on every floor. Shuffling onto a chair he waved the barkeep for a gin and tonic. He took the drink in his hands and sipped at it; the useless gesture of normality.
Every drop he new would get absorbed in some part of him. No drink on that bar would ever let him feel it affects. If he wanted a real drink, he thought as he looked to the dance floor...you gotta get from the tap. With the pulsing lights and music trying to overwhelm his senses he could still stare at a single person, and in a moment hear only there pulse. He could always smell it, there was never stopping it. Nox was able to look into the crowd and he saw a dark haired girl in a glittery silver dress dancing with some friends. Beauty and curves didn't mean a damn thing to him. His mind focused on how long it might take...she might go out for a cigarette in a moment.
Maybe in the bathroom...no too many people never a quiet moment. It would have to be outside it wouldn't take long. Just a taste to make time pass.
"No....no your fine." He reminded himself, no need for that now. Business came first in these situations always. Hunting could wait, especially when the night was still young. Besides with all these people it was too risky, then again with everyone half drunk you could get away with a lot. One man's vice was another was his opportunity.
Then it hit him, as small memory ran through his mind. The flavor of gin, a taste of lipstick...smell of vanilla. A laugh...he closed his eyes just for a moment again. Shaking his head he looked around him for a moment and he looked to the wall of various wine bottles and liquor. The whole world grew silent. The noise was gone for a moment as he stared at the wall of alochol. He blinked once seeing the bottles, he blinked again he saw a mirror shattered. A trail of blood pouring down the mirror lining the cracks and void space.
One last blink and the noise flooded his senses. No sweat but he was a bit shaken as he gained his bearings. Looking to the drink he ordered he put it down and pushed it away from him quickly. The bartender chipped in his two cents.
"Not much of a stomach for gin huh? Nox isnt it?" A blond haired green eyes bartender, gaining quite the attention from his female patrons as he was mixing a tequilla sunrise. There wasn't a quick response from the fellow this time.
"Apparently not...and its Carter."
