This is because the states – Johor, Malacca, Negri Sembilan, Pahang, Perak, Kelantan, Tereng*ganu, Kedah, Perlis and Selangor – have gazetted the ruling which is now part of the respective state enactments on Islamic matters.
A fatwahad been issued to prohibit non-Muslim publications from using the words “Allah”, “Kaabah”, “Solat” and “Baitullah” in their reading materials.

Al-Watan identified one man as Fahd al-Anzi, the nephew of Sawadi’s late husband, and the other as his friend and business partner Hadiyan bin Zein. It said they were arrested by the religious police after delivering the bread. The men also were convicted and sentenced to lashes and prison.
The court said it based its ruling on "citizen information" and testimony from al-Anzi’s father, who accused Sawadi of corruption.
"Because she said she doesn’t have a husband and because she is not a Saudi, conviction of the defendants of illegal mingling has been confirmed," the court verdict read.
Saudi Arabia’s strict interpretation of Islam prohibits men and women who are not immediate relatives from mingling. It also bars women from driving, and the playing of music, dancing and many movies also are a concern for hard-liners who believe they violate religious and moral values…
The woman’s conviction came a few weeks after King Abdullah fired the chief of the religious police and a cleric who condoned killing owners of TV networks that broadcast "immoral content." The move was seen as part of an effort to weaken the hard-line Sunni Muslim establishment.

The events took place in the small village of "Dmas" Meet-Ghamr, after a rumor spread around of a relationship between the 25-year-old Copt Shihata Sabri, and the sister of a Muslim man named Yasser Ahmed Qasim.
Yasser went to Shehata, holding a gasoline canister, poured it over him and set him on fire, as bystanders looked on in horror. The young Copt threw himself into the adjacent canal to try to put out the flames from his burning body. The fire left burns all over his body, leading to his death.
Following this incident, people in the village rallied and when the 60-years-old Sabri Shehata, father of the Coptic victim arrived, he was attacked by a group of Muslims stabbing him with knives and daggers; one stab penetrated his back to come out of his abdomen below the rib cage, resulting in his death, after being transferred to hospital.
.....A Muslim villager portrayed the incident as an honour killing stressing that it was because of Coptic Shehata Sabri teasing Yasser about a relationship he has with his sister, which prompted him and his friend to pour gasoline all over the Copt before setting him on fire. Pakistan: Taliban Threaten to Behead Female Shoppers.....
Because what could be more un-Islamic than a woman buying groceries for her children?....
MINGORA: It has been more than a month since the government and the Tehreek Nifaz-e-Shariat Muhammadi (TNSM) signed a peace deal in Swat but the shopkeepers at Cheena Market, once the busiest in Mingora city, are still waiting for female shoppers.
The Swat-based Taliban had banned females from going to markets and schools for education. However, girls are back in schools after Taliban leader Fazlullah agreed to a peace bid by his father-in-law, TNSM’s chief Sufi Muhammad but women are still avoiding going to bazaars.
“Business has still not returned to normal despite a marked change in the situation,” a shopkeeper, Ikramullah Khan, told Daily Times.
The reason for women staying away from the once popular place is obvious – threats from the Taliban.
On March 8, a bearded man, who the shopkeepers believed to be a Taliban, pulled out a dagger in a shop and said, “Who wants to be beheaded first?”
Earlier in January, Taliban had banned women from markets in Mingora. The Taliban have ordered the killing of women seen in market areas.
“Women are not allowed in this market,” banners displayed in a city’s market, once called ‘Women’s Market’, had read. Following the ban, shopkeepers dealing in women’s garments and cosmetics had complained about plummeting sales and disappearance of women customers. They had said that they could not even earn enough to pay the rent and electricity charges of their.
There have been reports of Taliban “compensating” shopkeepers for the loss they have suffered because of the ban on women shoppers.“The rent of each shop has been reduced by Rs 400 after the Taliban forced the market owners to slash the rent to help us make up for the loss because of the slump in business due to the ban on shopping by women,” Bakht said.
