Deak Tannen

Ariosto,

Fair point about Deak's (short for Deacon) age, I have adjusted the original post.

However, not sure about him being Maisy's brother. What I was thinking is that he is THE bad influence in Frank's life and Maisy hates him with a vengence (and the rest of the family dislikes him) especially as he has in the past come onto her (first time literally on the day of Frank Snr's funeral). Nor, for some reason, has she told Frank Jnr about this.

What do you think, Money?

I was also hoping to find someway that he doesn't get drafted since once Frank's gone, I won't have a character to play. :(

However, I do see merit of having Deak as the brother instead, so I leave it up to you.

Ariosto... Zehrman...

Well... I agree with both of you... [lol]

Talk about being on the fence...

The idea of Maisy having a evil brother is an idea...

Although... I have to admit... I find it even more interesting that Deak would hit on Maisy... makes him REAL bad actually. As for him not getting drafted... any real asshole would manage to get out of it somehow... he seems like the type that would.

I also wondered what Zehrman would play once Frank got sent away... I mean... he'd be back on leave occassionally... and he could write letters... and he could experience stuff away... but that wouldn't be much fun as he wouldn't be interacting with all of us.

He could play Maisy's evil step-brother... that would allow him to still hit on her... would also explain why she didn't tell Frank... also the fact that he started hitting on her at the funeral... how can you bring something like that up when your boyfriend is in mourning?

What do you guys think?

Deke

An evil step brother...sure. The best of all possible combo's. How about that Zeh...Ok
out of the draft...lets see...prison record (A serious one), health...(variety of things)
Defense work...hardship (sole support of family)
Thats about it.

Other question if you make him to 'dark' then how does he become Frank's (a decent kids) best friend.

Nothing that can't be worked out.

You made him Z, you play him.

been out of the loop for a few days

Had some things to deal with here that limited my posting; I'll try to catch up over the next couple of days.

Deak Tannen

Evil step-brother....

Yeah, I like the sound of that though I may alter his relationship with Frank. If he's going to be Maisy's evil step-brother, then I wonder if it would be better if Frank and Deak do not get on at all.

Money, may I also suggest that when he come onto Maisy after the funeral, he did so when she was low (possibly after a major fall out with Frank) and just for a few moments, she had succumbed and kissed him right back? Of course, she completely regrets it now but Deak has something over her (how could she tell Frank?). Just a thought.

Oops! Haven't posted anything in the play for a few days. Better get onto it.

Just a note...

I'm going to post to the thread sometime on Sunday. Just got home from the Jersey shore a couple of hours ago, and all I can think of now is getting some sleep. But Bette will be ready when Carmody gets off that bus, count on it. ;)

Zehrman

I think the idea of Frank not getting along with Deak makes perfect sense. As for Maisy kissing him at the funeral... I was thinking of an alternative.

What if... Maisy adores her older brother and can't see the evil he does. He manages to play this up, purposely hiding his bad side from her, so as a result Maisy thinks he's misunderstood for the most part. Maisy it an only child... I'm assuming this as no one mentioned in her basic bio that she had any siblings. Deak is her step-father's son from his previous marriage. His previous wife died on giving birth to Deak. Deak had only come to live with them about a year ago, until then he'd been through various boarding schools and so Maisy was eager to have a brother after being an only child for so long. I would imagine Deak was smart enough to take advantage of a potentially adoring younger sister. Also, ariosto suggested that Deak could get out of military service if he had a really bad criminal record? Maybe he was even in jail the past few years for something, something his father hasn't told Maisy or her mother. Maisy's step-father is nervous about having Deak live with them but is relieved that Deak seems to be behaving at home.

What do you think?

Also, perhaps Deak does make a move on Maisy during the funeral. It involved hugging and a kiss. Maisy is mortified by it, because she adores Deak and can't make sense of this kiss. She thinks it's partially her fault. Deak is acting like nothing happened and it makes Maisy feel even more horrible. She can't talk to anybody about it, so she tries to think that nothing happened either, but it's not working so well. Deak is like the only other guy ever to kiss her other than Frank and she's very confused.

Moneytalks

Thanks for your help, I can see that you have put a lot of thought into this. (What would I do without you? ;))

You certainly like giving your character a hard time don't you? I like your suggestion regarding Deak but I would like change it that he is a bit of a charmer (especially with the ladies) and that, until proven otherwise, everyone (almost) thinks he is a nice boy.

As regards to Frank's relationship with Deak, I would like to build on it as the thread goes on and see how it goes. Initially, I say they just don't like each other.

Since I don't want Deak to go to war, then the prison record suits his profile quite nicely but I suggest that only his father knows about it.

As far as the kiss at the funeral is concerned, if we do decide that it did happen, then I suggest that he did it because he likes playing games with her, psychologically and emotionally, more than it just being a simple case of lust.

Hopefully that sounds okay.

Change of name

OOC: Guys, just so that I won't confuse you, I am changing my name to "Jehanox" and this will be my last post as "Zehrman".

CASTING CALL!!

Hey, Sailors! The USS Quincy is putting into port tonight for their first shore leave in quite a long time... If you would like to play, but don't have time for a long term character, this is your chance to join us.

Girls, girls, girls! Talk of the town is that the USO dance is just a couple of days away. SOMEONE has to entertain the sailors.

Who knows? You might even want to stay. :D

Zehrman or Jehanox :)

Brilliant... [grins]... between the two of us we'll have the most well honed character in Fair Harbour! [ggls]

I agree totally... Deak should be a charmer... there is something so much more exciting about a character who is smart about being bad... [laughs]

I can't wait to see him! [lol]

Time rushes on....

Maid I appreciate your enthusiasm to put it all out for the boys, but their are still a few loose ends (get it) to tie up before we move to day two of our little tale...

Folks.. not trying to hurry anyone from the good "stuff" but we do have a war to win!

Let's say day two starts tomorrow evening.

Hey maybe we better ship poor old Frank out, sounds like you two want tp play with Deke instead.

[lol]... NOOOO... Frank will always be Maisy's true love... don't ship him out too soon! Besides he has to take her to the dance yet!

[ggls]

I am having a small RL crisis and it may be a couple of days before I can post again! Sorry to leave ya hanging SW and thanks for your patience!

I would be in agreement with ya on that one Ari, but my pilot is traipsing all over the country at the moment and his posts may be a little hit and miss. If he reads this and it's OK with him, I may "move" him around to fit the time schedule. I'd like to clear it with Thor, though, before I start moving his character around.

Colonel Thor

move me as you need to, lover....I am as malleable and pliable as putty....besides, I do not want the story to hang up on my travels.

Since hopefully this thread will continue for sometime and many of us will be called away from time to time, it may be a good idea to give proxy powers to another player, to post 'filler' posts if nothing else and allow the action to roll along.

Comments?

Poor old Frank

Thanks Money for sticking up for the poor kid. Between you and me, he's looking forward to taking Maisy to the dance. ;)

I think that ol' Ariosto is a bit of a slave-driver, trying to keep us to schedules (reminds me too much of work). :D

Ariosto, a suggestion:

Why don't you publish a timetable or schedule detailing how, timewise, events in the play relates to the real world. In that way, the cast will have some idea how long a particular part should go one for before advancing to the next stage (e.g. the next day).

You could also use it to advance the play to, say, the Dance without going through the preceeding day.

Just a thought.

Hmmm...timetable? Schedule? I think the best thing would be to get the permission of whoever you are posting with to "move" their character if they cannot be on the board for a bit. Nothing big should be done, just simple things.

Oh, and if your character is moving a little more quickly than the others, perhaps it affords you a little break from the action for a while to enjoy the other folks writing.

I would say, keep in mind the plot, what is happening around you, don't try to push (at least too hard), but let's not get caught up in sex scenes that go on for months - unless, of course it is myself that is involved! (Ok, ok.....JUST KIDDING!!!!)

I think we are all pretty much mature here, and can deal with things as they come up. (well, so to speak)

I didn't mean to inmply a set schedule, in fact I don't want one at all. What I may do is throw out a suggested time in which a days or several days activities should be wrapped up, but this si always open to review.
As Chele said some of our 'money' scenes take a lot longer that others. If every one is ready to move on while one couple takes 4 or 5 days to complete their tryst then nothing much will move forward. An awareness of what is happening across the thread and a sense of courtest to those who wait should solve this without a need for scheduling.

The Dance is day after tomorrow, but the Quincy arrives with 1600 sailors late in the afternoon. We also have those pesky German prisoners to deal with in the jail...New characters may be added as we go. The 15th will not be dull.

Also by all means keep Frank Jr alive and well!
I did sort of invent the guy and played him on the other site after all.

In fact...I need a runaway German prisoner, a man desperate to survive. A man who's been locked away in a U-Boat for 7 months!

Deak Taylor

Here's an update on the Deak character as agreed by me and Moneytalks.

Deak's Physical Attributes

James Dean look-a-like.

Age : 21

Comments: Deak's Maisy's older stepbrother. A few years back, Maisy's mother got remarried (ask MT for the details) and Deak just turned up out of the blue a year ago. Of course, Maisy was delighted that she finally got an older brother and took him into her heart.

Deak's Personality

A real charmer. Popular with most people especially the girls/women. However, he isn't what he seems. Also has a secret history that only his father knows about who won't tell anyone about it (maybe he feels responsible for his son in some way?).

Maisy adores him but is now confused (but not necessarily the way you may think) after an incident between the two of them.

Frank Jnr does not like him.

I have no qualms in being moved about by other players! But, SW and I both seem to be having RL problems! Let me know if you have a solution to our problem Ariosto...in case the day moves forward and SW and I are still locked in each others embrace, seemingly until the next day...lol

Moneytalks

Help!

Just want to say that now every time I see a post from you, I start hearing that song in my head.

;)

As soon as my fabulous sex scene with SW comes to an end I am leaving this thread. I don't think this should cause any problems since I am not a pivotal character! I wish you all continued success in the future!
