The Taylor Family's background

Money

Can we thrash out the Taylors' history a bit more?

For example, how long have Edward and Marie Taylor been married. I would suggest no more than few years else how can we explain Deak's lack of involvement in the family prior to a year ago? I gather that Maisy didn't know she had a stepbrother (or at least seen him) before that.

My original reason for why Deak wasn't on the scene beforehand was because he was in prison (also a good reason for not being drafted). Only his father knows this. (Another reason why Marie and Edward haven't been married too long?).

Since it is very likely going to be that Edward is not going to be Deak's natural father (see Faith's suggestions), we need to work out how he became Deak's legal guardian.

One suggestion is that before he met Marie, he worked a number of years in Europe. Being an engineering/technical consultant would have allowed him to do this. Deak doesn't yet know that Edward isn't his real dad.

I look forward to your input.

Phew! Hard work this thinking melarky.

Re: deak's parentage????

Okay, I'm not sure how I want to go with this. I've got a couple of ideas I'm bouncing around with:

First is the idea of Deak being my son through an affair with John. John being the up-standing guy he is takes the baby and gives it to good friend Frank SR and his barren first wife to raise as their own. The details were worked out between John and Maggie's Father. Maggie doesn't know what happened with the child. John is the only one alive that knows the full secret.

Or Deak is accually my son with Andrew. Being totally disillusioned with my marrage and finding that Andrew is not father matterial, I had upon finding myself pregnant gone to Europe. There I met John who finds a home for son as above. Maggie doesn't know details. Now this would mean Deak would be the rightful heir to the Deveraux/Sinclair fortunes.

I'd appriciate all feed back on this one!!!!

thanks
faith

I also think that your second suggestion is better.

I have already suggested to Moneytalks that Deak's father, Edward Taylor (and not Frank Moore Snr) used to live in Europe with his first wife (possibly before she died/left him).

Possibly, John knew him and knowing that Edward's wife was barren (lovely term), gave him the baby for them to raise as their own.

What do people think?

Naughty Money

Deak and Mrs Taylor

Since there's only going to be him and Mrs Taylor in the house, I wouldn't be surprised if he does try something. ;)

You and this thing with money related songs

I told you that you EVIL. ;) Why, why, why would you want to make me suffer like that? Already, every time I see your Avatar, that blasted song springs into my head. :(

Ariosto stands with broom in hand...

Dear players, If at all possible let's keep the OOC board dedicated to that which concerns the thread itself. It is getting difficult to ferret out the nuggets of information from the multitude of purely entetaining posts.

Also, a few notes on Life in the War years.

Almost everything by this time was coming under control of the ration board.
Things like steak, fine roasts, eggs, milk, sugar and most luxury items were disappearing from the shelves. "Points" (ration points) were needed to buy anything from shoes to gasoline (which within the year would be down to 1 gallon per week and there were NO new tires available at all.)

Nylons were completely gone and new dresses and suits were at a premium and disappearing fast.
The Nation did this willingly, caught up in a patriotic furor to win this 'just' war. There was no dissent as their was in VietNam. Everyone was pitching in and rationing and sacrifice were accepted readily.

THe USO in a town of any size constantly sponsored
'events' and dances and even on a night when nothing special was on tap, the USO club was open
and hostesses available for the servicemen to dance and chat with. These girls were volunteers from the community and there was nothing lascivious about their activities on behalf of the GIs.

Also remember that we are speaking of a much more conservative time. The pill was unknown. Illegitimate pregnanacies could ruin a young womans life.

Now that said...I am not implying a moral crackdown of any kind. This is litEROTICA after all, so if there is one place that deviation from the facts is more tolerable, then it is in the area of sexuality.

Just do your best to stage us in the right time zone....

Thank you all

Ari

I am so very frustrated...lol I wish I knew what I am doing wrong...lol  It seems as though every time I get really interested in a character of mine or a good story something seems to happen! I am about to just give up entirely...Please if anyone has any suggestions for me, do not be afraid to tell me!! If I am doing something wrong, jump right in and bust me on it!! But someone please tell me something!! lol (with the exception of a couple of writers, most of my partners just disappear from me, in a very abrupt manner! I am starting to get a complex here...lol)

Angel, your prayers have been answered. All right fake bravado aside, I've accepted the role Hermann Weiler. Now, if you will excuse me while I try to figure out what the heck is going on in this crazy town. This thread is long, very very long, great but long. I had planned to post tonight but, sheesh, I can't even find Sophie's damn apartment on the little map. How am I going to plan my daring escape?

Oops, I've lapsed into whining. Just consider it the cries of one intimidated newbie. I will post as soon as humanly possible. In the meantime, any help, by anyone, in the form of easy to read cliff notes would be greatly appeciated.

Angel

I don't think it's you or anything you've done, believe me. I've had threads die/players pull out, and I'm left wondering - "What did I do.....or not do??"

I think RL intrudes quite a bit, and I think it is safe to assume for everyone that role play takes quite a bit to sustain. I mean to develop a character, think out plot lines, react to other players (and the bigger the thread, the more complicated that gets, as I know you are well aware!) all takes time and thought. Hard enough to do if you're single. Very hard if you have a spouse and/or children in the mix - gotta get just that right balance.

There have been a couple of situations lately - this I know. And it is unfortunate. But think of the sucessful ones! Concentrate on those and try to incorporate what made them sucesses into threads you are currently on.

I know it can seem frustrating sometimes - especially when you REALLY love a character you've developed. But it can't last forever - at least I hope not!

(Besides, in this thread at least, your German sailor may have disappeared - and been replaced! - but you still have a very interested soldier out there who seems to be quite taken with "Miss Sophie"!)

Sophies apartment is not on the map Tornado. Let's say it's on a small side street off Farragut Blvd. Behind the Tradewinds Bar.

I have to update the map, does anyone have particular places they'd like to see put on it?

map needs...

Ari...I need an up scale apartment...I'd also like a small private place on the beach
Thanks

Let the reign of terror begin, or not...

All right, I have read through everything. Can't figure out where HC was going with Hermann, beyond endearing himself enough to hideout in Sophie's apartment. I have a slightly different conception of Herr Weiler and his plans.

No background on him, but I'm going to assume he is an officer based on his linguistic skills. Now, being that he of rank, he is not some poor German boy, drafted to the Nazi cause against his will. No, this is a hardcore fascist with no plans to bring a casserole to the 'Home Front' 10 year reunion. In a word, he's mean, not brutal and animalistic, but cold and calculating. He is not going to think twice about handcuffing a woman or be horrified to kill anyone. There is no chance he is going to try to win anybody over.

I'd like to propose a little heavy action for this thread. An officer would have made himself familiar with the layout of the important costal cities. He sees two opportunities for escape, steal a plane or a boat. He is going to assume that the domestic force of the coast guard is second rate and an easier target.

I'd like to move Weiler and Sophie from her apartment to the Coast Guard Station where Nazi will try to hijack a boat. Desperate, I know, but he hopes to rendezvous with the German fleet. Maybe we could make Sophie's apartment further away so they have to cover more ground. Here's why...

I'm going to bring up the touchy subject of violence. The German will shoot to kill, but I will not injure anyone's character unless of course somebody wants to use it as a plot device. Let me know if you want to participate. Getting injured, minor or otherwise might work for your character. As for Weiler, well, the heroes of this thread have my permission to take him out, just as he's about to escape with the captive Sophie. Should make for some exciting drama. Maybe after all is said and done, I'll be asked to play a kinder, gentler character.

Before I start, I've got to know... Faith, do you want me to kill Andrew?

Tornado - Just have to say I got a rush just reading what you are proposing to do! Also, I think I was believing the Nazi to be just as you described him - not a romantic Valentino, but a potentially ruthless killer.

I think it all sounds great. But then, my character's not all that involved with what you are planning. I would say - "Go for it!"

Tornado Sophie's apartment is not far from the CG Station at all.
I like your idea, very impressive. I think an rabid graduate of the Hitler Youth in town will definately fire things up.

Heil Hitler!

Tornado

Yes to killing Andrew! I need him to die for my sub plot to go forward.
Thanks
Faith:D

Tornado...whatever you would like to do with Sophie is fine with me. (except kill her off...lol) I like your run-down!! Sophie is a tough character on the outside. Inside she is just a lonely little girl! She uses men and throws them away in order to avoid heartache!! I wouldn't mind a pseudo-rape scene if this is the way you would like to play it out!! Just keep in mind that Sophie does whatever she has to do in order to survive!

Sorry all...that was me...darn cookies anyway lol

Please excuse my earlier post! I am having a very difficult time in real life and I think that frustration was showing through! Thanks for putting up with me!! Love you all!! :)

CaptainB...please come play with us!!

Hitler made me do it!

Angel, please don't hate me, just my character. Keep thinking about how happy you'll be once one of the good guys saves you, and Weiler is toast.

You sound a bit like Rutger Hauer(sp) in Blade Runner, Tornado.

Here's something to think about. Merchant ships might be the only possible escape route for you. With a war on they were desperate for crews, their destinations sometimes to neutral countries.
Another point. If you decide to strike one more blow for the Fatherland a great big target is due in port in a few hours, the Heavy Cruiser USS Quincy with 1600 sailors aboard.

Hello all. I've accepted Ariosto's invitation to play police chief Talbrut. I've scanned through both threads and he seems to be pretty unfleshed-out, aside from his belly. If anyone has any more ideas about him, let me know. Otherwise I'll pick up on the scene with Jack in Patterson's office.

Welcome aboard CaptainB...I have missed you :) Cannot wait to play with you again or even just read some of your posts if we do not interact!!
