How big of a turn off is smoking to people?

While I appreciate it if people don't smoke near me, I often have problems in public places like restaurants and bus stops. And a lot of smokers don't realize that 'near' means about 50 yards outside, any room in the same building, or if I am inside and they are outside but there's only one wall between us.

Although on the upside, the smell of smoke on clothes doesn't bother me at all, so time-wise if a person wasn't smoking in the last 15 min I have no problem being around them. As opposed to women who wear too-strong perfume, I've occasionally spent all day trying to stay at least 15 feet away from someone who's perfume was giving me a splitting headache. x_X
