Misogyny in general plus blonde becoming a really popular hair color in english speaking countries. ta-daaa dumb blonde jokes.

Also 1980s where women were joining the workforce in great numbers and men were very upset about this and used their decades more experience to imply women couldn't do the work.

Mostly it is just a bottle of hair colourant that some men generate perceptions around based on assumptive guesswork. If I colour my hair black one month and then auburn the next or shades of red, some guys genuinely guess that I'm a different person. They treat me differently. They expect I'll do different things. It's all in the perceptions of guessed up expectation and assumption. I recall being in my late teens and having my hair short and wearing a blond wig on some nights out and being treated like I was stupid.
