Actually that's not true. There are more people in, say, Chicago than Uvalde, Texas, so there may be more gun violence. But you're not looking at per capita figures.

In any case, your "97%" figure is just something you made up. Compare the number of deaths in Texas (4,561), for example, to the number of deaths in Illinois (1,691) in 2023.
