i agree with you but i think a woman worth having a SIGNIFICANT relationship with requires some degree of financial security. i know it may not be the most romantic thing to say or think about but i couldn't imagine being serious with someone if all i had going for me was hopes and dreams... can't pay rent or a mortgage with desire, ya know.

Going after what you want in life doesn't mean a high paying job. I've dated men that have been at the same crap job for 3 years working at the grocery store or fast food or whatever. They do nothing but sit on their asses all the time and talk about "oh I'm gonna do this and I'm gonna do that" and then they never do. "I'm gonna finish up college and become a teacher"... then never enroll in classes or apply for scholarships or anything. Or if they DO manage to get that far, they'd go off and party instead of studying.

Do you seriously think a teacher working at public school gets paid more than your average grocery store clerk? Probably not.... if they'd gotten up and actually went after what they claimed to want perhaps we'd be together now.

I hate to admit this... but after having extensive periods both with a girlfriend and without one, there IS a certain amount of money you end up spending on the relationship that can add to quite a bit even with someone with little money. Hindsight being 20/20 I should have spent less money on my gf in high school and saved that money for college...being in debt sucks. But since I haven't had a gf for the past two years (simplified my life to finish college/student teaching) I have found that most of my money ends up going into my checking account instead of being spent.

You will have to search high and low for a woman, in this day and age, that does not expect her man to have a fancy car and money coming outta his ass. I have friends that I have to just smdh at cause they expect gifts all the damn time. With all of the images on tv, everybody is a bit shallow in a way.

As long as you have that piece of paper from the college you graduated from and you enjoy your job, you have a bit more than a lot of people walking around that hate their jobs.

I am assuming that you are in your early 20's so you have time to make your money.
