I think that if you want a chick while you have no money is an easy thing to do. I meet woman all the time and they never cost me anything I wasn't going to spend anyways. If you're talking about a relationship thats different that'll have to cost you eventually... my prognoses... don't tell them you have no money until it's to late and they fall for your apparent charm... lol

If all I wanted was a man with money I'd have stayed with the older man I was seeing in NZ who had a wallet full of credit cards and a 6 figure salary. But all that money (and he was willing to spend some of it on me) doesn't make up for actually being loved and treated with respect and care, and being able to laugh with someone.......and I have that with Gil, who freely admits to not having any money but has a heart the size of Australia

You will have to search high and low for a woman, in this day and age, that does not expect her man to have a fancy car and money coming outta his ass.

That hasn't been my experience. I think that the problem is either in the way that you present yourself or the kind of women you are looking for. As for the first, I agree with the posters who've said that these women want a guy who's not a couch potato. I think you also have to be interesting and pay attention to how you present yourself. In the name of research I asked my wife, "What made you decide to date me in the first place?" She actually has a list! "I really wanted to date you because you seemed to be interested in who I was. You were the first guy I met who had a nice hair cut and pants without holes in them. I knew that I could tell my parents I was dating you without being embarassed. I was really impressed that you owned a house." The house bit surprised me. I was not making much money but I had saved enough to buy a house. It was in a run down neighborhood and I had to have a housemate just to make the mortgage payment.

As for the kind of woman you're looking for, there's a few posts here pointing out that there's a not so subtle difference between a woman who's looking to build a life with a man and a woman who's looking for a good time (with or without lots of gifts). If you want a glamourous, sexy, barbie doll then of course you're going to have to pay to play.

What are you doing to get out and meet women? It's hard to meet women when you're just coasting along, because they aren't going to jump out of the TV and into your lap. You need to decide what kind of woman you're looking for and then get out and be the kind of person she wants to meet. If you are religous and want a woman with the same values, then go to church functions. If you want someone with a big heart and you like to do things for others then try volunteering for charity. If you are looking for a stable long term relationship with kindness and mutual respect, then ask your friends if they know anyone with those qualities. Whatever you do, get out there and look.

I've been dirt poor and I've been extremely well off over the years. Girls are attracted to guys who make them laugh and who make them feel good about themselves. A sincere compliment goes farther than a bracelet or roses anyday.

Unless the kind of woman you are interested in is a gold digger. And why would you want that sort of woman in the first place? If you don't have the money, a gold digger won't give you the time of day in the first place. Yes, most all girls that I've met have wanted to be taken out and given surprises on occasion. It's nice to take a girl out to dinner and buy her flowers or something. But most girls don't expect that every night or want that all of the time. They just want a guy to be nice, funny, respectful, and happy to be with them. I haven't found girls to be 'costly' at all.

You see a girl that attracts you, tell her she is looking nice today, that you hope her day is going well, and tell her something that will make her smile and laugh.. something that will make her remember you. If the conversation continues, ask her if she would like to go get some coffee. You don't have to spend alot of money to just talk to someone.

Once you have her now you want to thing about entertaining her..
on a limited budget...

Find places to go that are inexpensive.. Dollar movies.
All you can eat early bird places..look for coupons off in the paper
Pack a picnic and go to a nice park to eat, and enjoy a stroll afterward.
Free concerts..
Go to a beach with a blanket at night and look at the stars...
Stay home and cook for her, or better yet, have her help you.
Have a home movie night..letting her pick her favorite movie to watch..
There are lots of things that are free or inexpensive.. if you look for them.

What you fail to understand is that most women would like attention from a man. I know that I would rather have a man who wants to spend time with me than gifts.. gifts do not hold me when I am upset, or afraid.. Gifts do not laugh and dance in joy when I am excited or happy.. Gifts do no whisper sweet words in my ear, or play with me in the shower/bath tub.. Gift do not give me great massages, then make passionate love to me..gifts are nice, but a pair of arms wrapped around me, holding me close and kissing me are better.

Gentlemen, the best gift any woman can receive is a man's physical presence and time. Someone who sincerely wants to spend time with her and I mean more than sexually..
