How do you store your toys?

All of a sudden, we are looking at a small collection of toys and feeling somewhat overwhelmed. How do other folks store their toys--discreetly, hygenically, aesthetically?

Also, just bought a fairly expensive California Exotics vibrator and the packaging was really disappointing. Made us pause to wonder if it was a return that was simply repackaged/resealed? Ever find that to be a true case? Or are we worrying too much?

Just to put our minds at ease, what are the best way to clean the toys before/after use?

Many thanks from the newbies.

I have kids, so they know not to go near the nightstand, as "personal stuff" is in there. Fortunately, the "obvious stuff" are buried under the "less than obvious stuff" (like scrunchies, tape, and other useful household goods).

And I don't know about anyone else, but I find a washing with hot water is good enough for me.

We keep our in separate ziplock bags and pack them into a box. We use to just keep them in a box, but had some meltdown through plastic interactions. We just wash ours with soap and water when we are done playing. Some of these toys we've had for 5-6 years.

plain brown box

In the back of my closet, top shelve... take a little time to get..... but no one will find it by mistake.......

I use hot water and soap......for cleaning my toys..lol

There is a movie, Steve Martin, starred in ..... theywere adults at his sisters house... the power went out..... someone pulled out his sisters vibrator out of a night stand thinking it was a flashlight..... trying to it turn-on ....the power came back on...

Don't remember the name of the movie.... but it was the funniest scene in the whole movie

We store ours in a leather bag. The dildo's and vibes are in a couple of pillow cases inside the bag.

Make sure you take out the batteries and ensure the silicon one's aren't touching each other or they look like they melted.

There are also some specific toy cleaning liquids available out there they also help depending on what the toy is made of. Storing them is a personal choice but take out the batteries keep them in a dry darker enviroment with low moisture.

that is hilarious, you gotta figure out the name of that movie lol

but to subject at hand.
i bought a cleaner specifically for silicon toys because thats all i have really. It works really well actually. It has lots of ridges so i also use a small brush - its like a tooth brush but the brissels are really fine and wont damage it.
I store them in seperate plastic ziplock baggies in a locked drawer in my dresser.

I had a mishap a few months back - before i thought to hide them in the drawer.
I kept them wrapped seperatly in a box under my bed that had a lock on it. i thought i locked it so didnt pay any attention to it for a few weeks. One day i got out of the shower, walked into my room and the box was sprawled on the floor so i rushed to get them all picked up and back in the box and noticed the bigger vib was missing. I went around the house looking for it and was tryin not to be suspicious cuz i had guests over. My mom sat at the dining room table with my sister n law both giggling at me like crazy so i knew they had found it. Apparently my son had brought it out as a "LOOK NANA ITS A LIGHTSABER!" as he's swishing it around like a sword.....
needless to say i was humiliated but could not stop laughing.

The movie is parenthood more funny even is the part he crashes the car the cop asks why he says show him honey she tryed to bj him whilst drivin.

The ones I use more often are in the night stand next to my bed. It's more convenient and it's easier to reach. The benefits of being single. :)

I have some other toys I don't really use because they were given more as gag gifts and they're in a suit case in the closet.

as mine are mostly found objects, there are often returned to other displays among my collections after washing...

cannot count the times some-ones picked up my favorite ' dildo' and commented on what an interesting rock it is... if they only knew...

I don't have many and they stay in the drop drawer of the night stand. That divine toy box is nice, I might have to look for something like that. :)

Generally, keep mine in boxes in my dresser, and a small carry-on like bag in another cabinet. I need a better way of storing them; my collection has gotten too big for the way I store them. Generally, they are in their own plastic bags, too.

Cleaning them: water and soap.

As for my "personal" toys, they are kept in my nightstand after being washed in soap and water.

As for other toys....such as crops, floggers etc. I have an old metal plumbers tool box. It is long enough for my longer toys and has a clasp that I can padlock. Keeps my teens out of it.:rose:

I don't have kids to worry about, but I do have (grown) sibs who come over on a regular basis with boundary issues. After use, I clean them and wrap them in cotton or silk cloths and put them in a train box. That goes in the cedar chest where the linens are. Since my sib's boundary issues don't go so far as helping me fold the laundry, it's pretty safe. Besides, I'm the kind of bratty little sister who would say something to the effect of "people who rifle other's belongings deserve whatever discomfort they get! If you don't wanna know about my sex life, don't go looking!"

I wash the regular stuff with soap and water, anything anal gets washed with this special cleanser that I got from Babes in Toyland, I think. Most toy stores (online and off) have similar products.

Edit: Since I don't share my toys, soap and water would probably be sufficient, but I have germ issues sometimes. Hence the special cleanser for certain items.

All my toys are wrapped in paper towel and in a tubaware box in the very back of my closet no one will find it unless they are looking. Only people online and my Ex's G/F and a Friend with benefits know where they are and the fact that I have toys.

I clean with warm water and soap seems to do a good job since I am the only one that uses my toys.

I store mine in the top drawer of a large filing cabinet. It has a lock, so I'm not terribly worried about someone finding them. Besides, the look on their face would be worth it when they see the bundle of rope next to a huge box of needles. Actually, I'm starting to run out of space. I might have to dedicate a second drawer.

As for cleaning, I really don't need to. Nothing comes into contact with body fluids. Even my vibrator is only used through clothing.

Our toy collection has recently increased too - bought ourselves a nice bag to accommodate them all and to transport them when away for a few days. No kids to worry about so bag kept handy near bed!!!

We find BuzzWipes good for keeping toys clean - really just branded hygenic wet wipes.

Now thats what has happened to my (expensive ) rabbit from ann summers!

I have never had my toys melt, but this weekend I bought my first silicone one, so we are keeping it in the packaging it came in.

We used to keep our toys in the bottom drawer of our nightstand, but we have noticed a few times that the kids were in our room to get something, and when we would go in later, the drawer would be partly open! So...we bought a long, flat, plastic drawer from Wal-Mart, and we put our toys in it and put it under the bed. No problems since!

I used to use antibacterial soap and warm water to wash our toys, but I have one toy with lots of nobbies and ridges, and I kept getting yeast infections after using it. We went out and bought a toy cleaner and haven't had any problems since.

As for the returned toy issue: I used to work in an adult store, and due to health laws, we could not take back toys. That is why adult stores must put batteries in vibes before you buy them to make sure they work. Otherwise people would try to bring them back and say they didn't work and the store would be unable to take it back. Health laws prevented us from handling used toys at all. I understand that some online stores will take them back and refund your money, but as I understand it, the same health laws prevent them from being able to resell the product.

I do have some sex cleaning solution that place sent me but I use old fashion soap & water & just wrap a scottowel around it & under both bathroom sinks, one bathroom at each end of the house. I've all individual playthings (brands) but one of each of everything. I go through the vibrators ...lol... but each order I buy a couple of things, they through in some free things & before you know it...you've your toychest. Have fun.

my husband is handy and rigged the nightstands with a sort of screw/bolt to keep the drawer from opening. It's not meant to deter someone who really wants to get into the drawer, just a young kid.

Inside the drawer we have the vibes/toys stored individually in satin bags. The stuff that's made of cyberskin or whatever it's called gets dusted with this powder specially made for the purpose.

Restraints, etc are in a bag in the bottom drawer, locked as well. The riding crop is usually kept in bewteen the mattress and box spring because it won't fit in the drawer.

we've camoflaged a hook that is attached to a beam in the ceiling by hanging a decorative candle thingy. At first it had nothing on it but the kids kept asking why it was there.

I've got a lockable box that stores toys and porn. That's kept pretty much out in the open and the question of it's contents has never arisen. If it ever does the answer is already prepared - "oh just more junk!"
