No kidding. I really don't get a lot of the mainstream hotness choices. Sarah Jessica Parker, for example, is someone that I do not find hot.

She looks to me like a cliche Halloween witch. Complete with the big nose and mole and everything. Seriously, her face scares the shit out of me and I keep expecting her to break out the flying monkies one day. >_<;

Hmmmm. I've been wondering this a lot recently. :p I really want to be judged, tempted to put myself on one of those websites, just to see. I thought I was average, if not below, and had really low self-asteem. But recently people have been saying that I'm really hot, one even said I was a 9, or maybe a 9.5. So I don't know now. I have a much higher view of my attractiveness now, and I do think I look good when I look in the mirror. But it's all down to self-asteem. So I don't know. I'm guessing 8.

ratting your hair is, by definition, intentionally putting a million knots into your hair, until it becomes one mass of hair that you can work into a shape, laying smoother hair over top, thereby giving yourself gloriously huge hair.
I'm not into big hair myself but I am a MAJOR fan of the quiff, where just the top part is teased and puffed up like your description. Do you do them? I love that look but have a bit of trouble achieving it.

I think I am very pretty in the face, and I have a nice, thick, curvy body with long legs, so yeah, I guess I am pretty hot.
Really, though, my best feature has got to be my hair. Can just hair alone make a woman hot?
I would say you're hot, and it's not just the hair.

I personally don't think a person can be comfortable in their own skin and believe that they're ugly. I think that's an oxymoron. If you look in the mirror and hate what you see, how can you truly accept yourself? That makes absolutely no sense to me.

You might believe people like myself are "conceited" or of the mindframe like "Yeaaaah, I would TOTALLY do me!" but that, in my opinion, is a direct product of your own discomfort in yourself. You can't understand confidence and finding oneself attractive unless you ARE confident and you find yourself attractive.

I 100% agree with you, in my circle of friends it's far from conceited to say that you like the way you look.

But yeah, I would TOTALLY do me. Hahaha :D

This I missed before, but I have to disagree on this point - more specifically, the assertion it's an oxymoron. I don't think being attractive to other people and being comfortable with the way you look are at all correlated (although the latter might cause the former to change, I imagine somebody really insecure in their appearance wouldn't seem particularly hot). I'm fine with how I look, I just don't think I'm particularly attractive. There's no connection in my head.

Ha ha. Wore clothes that aren't way too big for me, for a change, the other day, to walk the dog.

It appears that at the age of 42 and at 30-odd pounds overweight I can still turn men's heads. Several of them.

High five to self!

Either that or I'd tucked my shirt into my knickers or I had egg on my face or something.

Well, I'd rate Mr's looks a ten, but I might be a wee bit biased, maybe.

:D :D :D

I mean, he wears a hi-vis polar fleece and I swoon. I'm a lost cause.

well i'd rate Daddy a solid 11, not taking into account my love for him...but that's because of everything about him: how he speaks, how he walks, his confident and authoritative air, his protectiveness, his fiery temper, his laugh, how he can move one eyebrow independently of the other...(now THAT's hot!), etc...it's about the whole vibe, not just a still picture.

Yeah, that's alright. sort of like an over-sized pompadour, and I can get behind that, but I also sort of feel like if you're going to go to the trouble of doing that you might as well go whole hog and do this - http://www.greathairstyletips.com/images/brigitte-bardot-bouffant.jpg or this - http://www.tru.ca/news/websites/subject_sites/hair_website/images/bouffant.JPG

Mmmm.... big, glorious, sculptural hair. I gotta start getting good at doing big bouffants like that.

Yeah, sometimes it does feel like a lot of effort for not much... but I love it too much :D

I love that one http://www.greathairstyletips.com/images/brigitte-bardot-bouffant.jpg It's so sexy, I love how it's quite messy instead of the perfectly sculptured look.

Wow. Brigitte Bardot and Raquel Welch in one thread.

They were the goddesses of "hot" to my 10 year old self.

well 34D is still pretty massive to me, as a B cup. but i must agree, they look great, the shape especially is making me envious.

Thank ya...they just feel heavy to me. I would kill for a nice perky b cup.

I was all about Eartha Kitt (her shape and voice just thrilled me).

Blurg.

Two steps forward, one step back. Let's hear it for perpetuating stereotypes!

What an idiot.
Yup. From a nominee running for the U.S. Senate, and former CEO of Hewlett Packard, no less.

Apparently you can take the female out of junior high, but you can't take the junior high out of the female. For some women, anyway.

It really is incredible.

By the way, this thread proves conclusively that beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

None of those puffed up hairdos get me all worked up. As a matter of personal preference, I'd say that Raquel Welch looks infinitely better in this shot:

Ditch the high maintenance hair, take a chisel to all that makeup, and you've got a lovely female right there.

Most models don't have to speak so they can be 10s. Actors and actresses get higher scores because we fall in love with the characters they play. The poll results aren't surprising, most people think they're in the 6-8 range, whereas if other people were judging them they'd find themselves in the 3-5. It's a defense mechanism, most people can't accept that they're plain, average, unattractive to most people.

I thing being "hot" as in "attractive to other people" has zilch to do with being accepting of oneself.

Depending on what type of people you are aroudn, that's a very big variable.

For instance - me. I'm a rather plump woman. When I lived on a military post, and was around either people in the military or thier wives, I got quite used to the idea that I was physically repulsive to my peers. Many of the people had pretty bad social skills, and give a guy a couple of drinks and it wasn't uncommon to hear "man, I can't beleive your husband puts up with you" and "If you just lost some weight you'd be so pretty." That sub-culture (military) is very much of the belief that excess body weight = bad person. So it was ok to be really vocal about how attractive someone was, because it was a deep moral flaw that they were fat.

Now that I'm in the civilian world, I am amazed at the nice compliments I get from people. It's like a whole different world. I can be chubby and still be a cute fun person to be around!

So while I am still the same person I have been for the past 15 years, the last five have had me being considered attractive by the outside world much more than the prvious 10. Even when I was a skinny little thing, but then the comments were how my muscles were toned enough LOL
