They will try that and they may or may not fail. But the deep state knows that if Trump gets ride of the Obama-nation hang overs and cleans up the justice department there will be no way to hide their crimes. Many would go to prison and many others would be humiliated and kicked out of government work. Behind the scenes that is the motive behind all of this. They don't care about his policies one way or the other. They just know that if he keeps draining the swamp they will loose their habitat.

It is a last resort. I am sure it is already planned and that is the real "insurance policy." But if they can smear him out of office it avoids making Trump a hero and the messy investigations. Few POTUS have ever had such an intense base of supporters. If they take him out Lincoln style the villagers would storm the castle and they know how dangerous it would be for them. That is the only reason they have not already tried.

One of his greatest vulnerabilities will be when it is clear from the polls that he is in for a landslide victory over whichever idiot the left props up. With all the travel and crowds LBJ knew it was a perfect chance to take out Kennedy and become the swamp POTUS that he was.

Only because Nixon beat them to the punch, and Johnson was acquitted by the skin of his teeth. Clinton's wasn't even close to a 2/3 vote in the Senate. Even if acquitted in the Senate, I don't think Trump will get anywhere near the electoral bump that he thought he was going to get from impeachment. He dared the Dems to do it and ultimately they didn't have a choice but to call his bluff.
