How much air can someone take?

I was playing around with my girlfriend the other night and I wanted to try forced breathing. We were lip-locked and I pinched her nose and breathe air into her then I inhaled through my nose and forced another breath into her. I wanted to continue but I don't know how much more she could take without injury. Has anyone tried this and how many breaths were you able to pump into her?

????

I'm not a doctor but my guess is you probably can't injure her UNLESS she has a weakness anywhere in the walls of her lungs. Then you'll kill her. The wall will blow out and you'll force air into her bloodstream and when the resulting clot hits her brain or heart she'll arrest and DIE. Try explaining THAT to the police, her family and then a judge because you WILL be charged with manslaughter. "I didn't know" is not generally accepted as a valid excuse for killing a person.

There are so many FUN things to do when you're just "necking" or making love I don't understand why you'd want to do something that with even a lick of common sense you could figure out all by yourself that it might KILL HER.

And that goes for her other "mouth" too.

If you want to blow air into her try her ass. She'll blow it back at you and you'll be able to see for yourself how bad your breath is!

I'm sure it's possible to give you a scientific answer based on average human lung capacity, but I don't think it'd be terribly useful. (If you want to know, look up a biology/anatomy text or goto www.webmd.com.)

The best method is to go by what's comfortable for her. Have a release signal so that she can easily let you know that it's no longer fun. Wrestlers and martial artists generally "tap out" by single- or double-tapping the mat or their opponent; you could do the same thing. If she pats you ANYWHERE on your body, or the bed/wall/whatever, that's your signal to release her to breathe normally.

I've never tried breathing into a partner to try to max out her lungs. However, I have done some "rescue breathing" while she was conscious. Essentially just do mouth-to-mouth resucitation going back and forth between you. It's fairly intimate, kinda fun, and feels a bit weird. Remember that the air you inhale is about 20% oxygen; the air you exhale is still about 18% oxygen. Thus, you can recycle the air for quite a while without oxygen deprivation.

Breath play goes beyond the realm of what most folks on the How-To board try regularly. For more advice on the subject, I recommend that you post your question in the BDSM board. Far more people there engage in breath play and they are much more knowledgable about how to do it safely.

Remember: Safety First!

Thanks for the info. I usually have her wrists tied when we play but I will have her make a certain gesture (no not that one...one she never uses) when she gets too uncomfortable and that will be my cue to stop.

Well all, last night I played with her again and I was able to force 3 full breaths into her chest & tummy. Then partly through the fourth, she started struggling so I stopped. She was able to hold it in her for about 20 seconds before she signalled for me to release it.

Hopefully soon, we can work up to more.

Maybe you already knew this, but according to what I read somewhere, it blowing air into the vagina can be deadly. There was supposedly a case of this happening about 20 years ago. It caused the woman to develop some kind of embolism that reached her heart and killed her.

Not exactly the kind of breathing you were talking about, but something to be careful of maybe.

Taken from the goaskalice.com website. This was easier then retyping everything.

Dear Alice,

My girlfriend and I have oral sex. I heard that if you blow in the vagina of a female that it could kill her. Is that true?

Dear Reader,

Yes, it's a true but very rare occurrence. When air is blown or forced directly into a vagina — without allowing any air to escape — an air embolism (the abnormal presence of air in the cardiovascular system) could form, which can be fatal. Women who are more at risk for this unlikely possibility are those whose pelvic vessels are enlarged (meaning, increased blood supply to the vagina) due to a condition such as trauma and possibly pregnancy. So, if a very large amount of air were to be blown or forced into their vaginal canals, it's possible that the air could enter their bloodstream, causing a blockage in a blood vessel. As a result, some of these women, perhaps including the pregnant women's fetus, may experience complications. In extraordinary cases, some of these women (and the fetus) may die if the embolism travels to the heart or lungs.

If you like blowing air into your girlfriend's vulva, and if your girlfriend enjoys the sensations brought on by this, it may give you two some peace of mind to know that gently puffing some air into or breathing on a woman's vulva during oral pleasuring appears to be okay. However, it might be better to suck, kiss, lick, probe, press (with lips or fingers), or lightly nibble a woman's vulva or clitoris than blow or force air directly into her vagina. Safer and enjoyable oral sex on a woman mostly involves using a dam, finding out what feels good to her, and practice.

I'm in the medical field and blowing forced air into someone can be a bad thing. I'm not totally sure if you can overinflate the lungs but blowing forced air into her tummy can cause her to vomit and if she is laying on her back she could aspirate that vomit into her lungs. Thats usually not a good thing because it can cause her to choke and develop whats called aspiration pneumonia. That usually involves hospital time with lots of antibiotics. So just play it safe. Take care and I'm sorry if I scared you.

Why the fuck would anyone want to do this to someone?

It's just something people do to spice up the bedroom. Vanilla is great flavor, but too much of the same old thing will only take you so far.

(Now, to go out and get me some chocolate... :) )

Because it's incredibly, intensely erotic.
