How to make it stop hurting?

I think that peachy has it right Johnny. It is painful, it does hurt and the hurt doesn't stop overnight. With me, I tend to hide, clean, and try to stay distracted the first week or so. Especially if it was a friend that I was really close to.

ummmm- hugs?

ok- silly blonde answer- but seriously- in addition to getting on with life you do need to give yourself the right to fall apart a little for a little while. not long- but you do need to let it out. and when you do make sure there's another friend on hand with hugs for you...

DO NOT turn on the radio
DO NOT watch regular TV...

it'll feel like they're out to get you and how you're feeling at the time.

Well my friend.... :)

Having been a veterian I have lost some friends. Depending on how close you were to that person is related to the degree of hurt you feel...:( Never be ashamed of expressing your feelings as it is a method of healing. There is times that the hurt never ends. Especially, around the holidays. The close ones never leave. They become apart of you which is good. They help mould your personality and makes you stronger. Be greatiful you were given the chance to now them....;)

Honestly, though...losing my puppy earlier this year hurt alot worse than any recent broken friendships, which I guess tells me something.:)

It's called a mourning process. It can't move any faster despite your best wishes for it. Realize that you have to grieve in order to heal and you'll be richer for it after it's all over with.

My sympathies.:( :rose:

well

it depends on the friendship...was it something that enriched you, made you smile? Was it an ending that was abrupt or unforeseen? For me, i have lost important people and the only thing that makes it not hurt..is to take time to figure out what it was that made the friendship special. Learn from it...and move on. Hopefully (unless it was a death) the people who mean something to you, will come back around and if not, well then treasure what you got out of the friendship....and move along...

Losing any kind of friendship is going to hurt and you have to accept that.

I agree with lust engine. you need a bit of a mourning period....give yourself time to come to terms with it,what it means and how much of a idfference it may make in your life.

Some grieving is short, some is long, some happens all at once some is spread out over weeks, months or even years.

you'll get over it :D

A lot of good suggestions here Johnny. Especially the one about giving yourself a mourning period and putting a time limit on things.

One of my co-workers and best friends died Friday. I worked side by side with her for 7 years. She was the best. Work is gonna suck bad without her. She was one of the reasons I stayed at this job so long. Hard to not think about her all day long at work.

my condolences on your loss

Thanks. I think the only thing you can do is wait for time to make it feel better. That and remember all the good times you had with that person.......
