Ive tried shaving in the past but i always seem to get razor burn so ive given up and gone to just trimming... what technique should i use if i want a clean shave but clean skin as well, suggestions would be great =)

Well, I find the skin gets used to it, and since my wife hates 5 o'clock shadow on my shaft during sex, I tend to have to shave every other day.

Mach 3 razor, and shave cream, not gel. get something for sensitive skin with no perfumes if possible.

I shave against the grain, one pass...less irritation than 2 passes with the grain.

I follow up with Nivea aftershave balm for sensitive skin.

This is how I shave my shaft, sack, taint, and ass. I get maybe 3 or 4 in-grown hairs a year, and no razorburn. I also have pretty sensitive skin.

Also, look into getting a woman's razor. It is made to be held to shave those areas instead of your face. I got one and it has made a huge difference.

i don't shave, but i trim. i tend to find electric razors quite effective for that purpose.

I shaved once and didn't like it... It looks kind of freaky when your groin is bald and the rest of you is hairy...

I just trim it using a beard trimmer... Set it to 4 for up top and 2 for the balls.

ditto

Mach 3 is the only way to go! every day a quick pass and its smoooooooth sailing!
:nana:

Electric razor... tried the blade... didn't workout well for me. I find girls like it neat & trimmed...

Funny you should mention that, because my hubby and I were talking about it the other night. I told him he'd look silly with hair on his chest and belly but no pubes. :)

We've been using the Schick Quattro Power (I had a coupon for a free one and the blades are almost always on sale) and a combination of shaving cream and hair conditioner recently with flawless results. I thought the "Power" thing was a gimmick, but this one DOES work better than non-powered, the blades don't seem to need replacing that often (though we only use this to shave the pelvic region), I love the rubberized handle that doesn't get so slick, and you can buy any Quattro blades for it (sometimes one type's on sale, so it's a nice feature). We also really like the Gillette Sensor Excel, baby oil, King of Shaves products, and silicone lube.

Doing it after you've been in contact with hot water is really important, as is keeping it up so you don't itch or get razor burn (this may take a couple of weeks of daily shaving though). For me, there's one small area on the mons pubis that always get razorburn no matter what, so I settle for a close trim there, and shave the rest.

If you're a irritated, a little over the counter hydrocortisone cream after you pat dry works really well, and wait to shave until it subsides some if it's really bad. However, with a good razor and routine, you shouldn't have problems.
