Weird Harold said:Resizing a picture to make it bigger and not getting a grainy or pixilated result is much harder than reducing a picture to fit -- especially if you're starting from an avatar sized image; ther just isn't enough detail available in 150x150 pixels for even the best resizing programs to work with.
Whenever possible, start with a "full-sized" image -- 640x480 or larger; the larger the better -- to get a good avatar or profile pic.
