How to.....use Avatar

I actually was trying to make it smaller. I don't know why I couldn't just reduce it without distorting the image.

Different programs resize images differently. It sounds like the program you used defaults to a "pixel resize" and may have a separate "Resample" function for quality resizing of images.

Irfanview has several diferent resizing algorithms available because no one algorithm is right for all images.
