How to write a threesome.

@Rollinbones I don't know your style, but something I try to keep at the core of what I write is the emotions of my characters. How do they feel about the situation? Is it a married couple with a unicorn = one set of emotions. Is it three people at a party who just end up in bed together = a different set of emotions.

I haven't written a threesome but according to my experience there are usually both sexy bits and awkward or funny bits. So if you want to keep it realistic you might want to include that. I've got a story in my plot bunny shed that will have an FFF threesome (not lookalikes😁) where a couple adds a third for some kinky fun, so I'm picking up some points from this thread as well :giggle:.

Consider the motivations of your characters beyond sex. For example, the first threesome I wrote was in an ongoing serial and had a similar makeup as yours - male POV character, with his girlfriend, her female friend is their third. In my story, the main character's girlfriend is planning on going more explicit with her previously tame OnlyFans content, and she wants to test the waters to see if she and her boyfriend can handle it. She ends up loving it. The male character is concerned about the possibility of it hurting his relationship, and is a caring lover, so he's focused on his girlfriend's emotional needs and both women's physical needs more than his own during the scene. The third just wants to have fun and is attracted to both of them, and also has experience with threesomes that they don't have, so is both a participant and guide.

I also found that a good deal of dialogue before, during and after helped - you have to write the sex, obviously, but it's the chemistry that readers really want or the sex is just mechanical.

This, million percent this. I did one threesome, and the dialogue was incredibly helpful for the interplay and dynamics between guy and married couple (lizard wives; it's me, after all).

There's the physical and the psychological elements and all I can say about the former is: Knees can be a blessing or a curse in any sexual encounter and in a threesome there are 50% more than the normal allotment.

Also that extra goddamned arm. Instead of one there are now two, sometimes three, which is a 100% increase.

Sandwiches and spitroasting are added not only because they're hot, but because they solve the knee problem. Spitroasting solves both.

I'm only being about 50% facetious here.

See, to me "threesome" doesn't mean that all three people have to be fucking each other at once (outside of porn). It could, or they could all be in the same bed but only actually fuck in couples, with one person resting and watching. Again, just stating my interpretation of the word.
