I’m leaving

FWIW I’ve not reported the troll. I’ve never reported a single thing on Lit. The ignore button is my big gun, not crying to teach.

And I might add that I’ve had some truly vile stuff said and sent to me. I mean vomit inducing. Not even in the same ballpark as the above juvenilia.

Btw, you are constantly bragging how your stories get published quickly, so where is part three? I thought you said you had finished it?

I’m not bragging. Merely stating.

It was approved for publication within a day and a half. Bear in mind that:

  1. It’s over 30k words long
  2. It contains some material that could trigger the review bot (but not a human reader)
But…

It’s for Geek Pride. So it’s scheduled for publication on May 25th, same as all the others.

Raised Catholic, now atheist. So snap 😊

Em
Oh yeah, I had the Catholic thing - the real old-school, 1960's version. Do they still have Confession in those booths? Not really an atheist, more like the human mind (the religious ones) can't grasp the nature of reality and thus makes up things. "Jesus is coming!" Quite common among obviously, ah, disturbed people preaching spontaneously on the street. When is he going to get here already?

Also, among all of those religions, which one is correct? That old joke about how Heaven is segregated by religions, because each group thinks they are the only ones up there.

I have had enough. I have had it up to here. This place has changed, or maybe it was never what I thought it was. Anyway there is a limit to how much any sane person can take and I’m way past it.

What is it that I object to? What is it that the people who claim to run this site know is a cancer eating away at the heart of the community, but refuse to act on?

Let me tell you.

It’s attention whores posting threads saying that they are leaving and why. I mean what’s up with that FFS?

I’ve had my fill. I’m out of here. Gone. Packing my bags and hitting the road. Don’t try to stop me, my mind is made up. No really it is. I can’t take just one more whiny, melodramatic leaving thread. Just leave won’t you, with dignity. And ideally silence.

Good bye forever cruel forum.

Emily
Aren’t you gone yet?

Steven Spielberg died and went to heaven, and saw a guy with a beard and an anorak wandering around amongst the clouds, poking the scenery with a pencil, measuring stuff out with a ruler. He had an Arriflex camera in his hand

"Who's that?" Spielberg asked Saint Peter, "he looks a bit like Stanley Kubrick."

"Oh, that's God," Saint Peter replied. "He thinks he's Stanley Kubrick."

To be fair, he was acting like a bit of a muppet. There was no need for him to get nasty like that. Even if we didn’t know this post was in jest then a few simple questions would establish that.

Heh, that makes, well probably lots, but at least two or I suppose three of us with gun! High 5's all around
Rosaries all round maybe 🤔
I think they're loosened up a bit since I was young. But I've realized that I have to give the Catholic Church some credit, which took me a while to realize. They have been an excellent source of plots and characters, lapsed Catholics and Catholics who are lapsing. Even the few Jews are well-acquainted with the foibles of their Catholic friends and lovers. The religion provides a good erotic brew of lust, guilt, defiance, and all-around ambivalence, not matter how hard one tries to get away from it.

I still struggle to see how anyone could interpret the OP as anything other than tongue in pussy cheek.

People believe what they read on the internet because it's... on the internet. There are also gullible fools. I continue to be stunned and amazed just how large that group is. It's why people shoot fish in barrels, it's so easy, and someone will also always rise to the bait.

If I may go off on a tangent (I think Emily will understand) this deep dive into Paths of Glory is worth watching. Done in "real time," it goes into quite a bit of detail about the cast members among other things.

It's the movie where Kubrick really hit his stride. I saw it on a big screen at a uni film group, decades ago. Superb film making. It's a shame, nowadays, that people only see these classics on small screens on their living room wall.

Have you not seen the size of some of those screens, hun?

Yeah. It's a real eye-opener to cruise around our (red)neck of the woods and seeing a ratty mobile home with an 80" flat screen illuminating... well... everything.

They are going to start making mobile homes out of TVs - Ray Bradbury would be so proud.
