to see this group live...was just total bliss in the whole of the people who were there..
I was blessed to be at the foot of the stage and felt the harmony of music at its finest...and everyone was for just a spell...HAPPY....

Happy Thanksgiving all you American poets, and happy Thursday to the rest of you. To those of you stateside, I hope you had a good day and no indigestion. I am personally stuffed and still can't contemplate the late night leftovers sandwich. Maybe later.

Anyone going out shopping tomorrow? Not me! eagleyez and I agreed that we'd spend Black Friday lazing about and definitely not cooking.

I found this lovely Billie Holiday clip on YouTube I had not seen before (Sassy, PoeTess are you out there?). It's a great example of her astonishing ability to communicate a world of emotion with a little, not always on key voice. And of course she never stops swinging.

I Love You Porgy

Turkey goes so well with jazz.

For Tz :) Actually, I should broaden the dedication to any of Lit's troubadors.

ETA: disturbing footage of bellybuttons and various incinerations aside, this is a kick-ass cover, I think.

Great song, Bluey. I listened to it and then I found this cover from Patti Smith of Soul Kitchen, another wonderful song from that first Doors album. Yeah, album. I know you remember em, too. :D
Sorry, m'dear, I went off on an ironic riff off that Morrison cover.

So, hey. How about some Red Norvo via Benny Goodman? You might have to click on it and walk out of the room for a while. Apparently bandwidth does not favor this clip. Go away and let it load and then play it. Like listening to short wave radio otherwise.

It's a good one, though.

Well, I think.

But, then, I've always liked vibraphone.

Fuck. I was originally gonna fuck with your heads with some John Cage music, but I guess that fuck is fucked now. Fuck. :)

A guy I know has a t-shirt that reads, in very simple print, "Don't fuck with the fucker, 'cause the fucker's been fucking too long."

I surfed my way to this crazy place in a roundabout way, which included top ten lists, comedy sketches, T-Pain, auto-tune, and (I must here confess) a bias towards music videos featuring trashy lingerie shrink-wrapped around attractive women in hailing distance of my own age.

Cher was, I think, 43 when she made this fabulously excessive video that redefines the term Military-Industrial Complex.

I find it hilarious, and kind of, um, silly. Just consider that establishing shot of the light-outlined "boat."

Uh huh. Told you.

Those sailors seem to like Cher's costume, though. Or maybe they're just amped to be on leave.

Anyway, I just wanna be her dog.

Woof.

I am coming across this waaaay late, obviously, but I'm so glad that I did. Wonderful song. :cattail:

The song running through my head at the moment is one of my own. Hope you don't mind. Here are the lyrics.

(Verse 1)
I sit here alone
with nothing left to say
I try to talk to you
but you always walk away
Everything is building inside
all the tears that I've cried
I sit alone in my darkness
and let it all drift away
(Chorus)
Cause I scream and I shout
But no one will hear me out
I'm out on this ledge
and I'm slowly going over
(slowly going over)
(Verse 2)
I pick myself up
and try again loud and clear
I'm talking to myself
Cause you don't seem to hear
All of this pressure is building inside
with the tears that I've cried
I sit alone in my darkness
till it all fades away
(Chorus)
Cause I scream and I shout
But no one will hear me out
I'm out on this ledge
and I'm slowly going over
(slowly going over)
(Bridge)
I let everything go
Until I finally explode
No you can't blame me this time
(Chorusx2)
Cause I scream and I shout
But no one will hear me out
I'm out on this ledge
and I'm slowly going over
(slowly going over/second time x3)
