I am Music

The Byrds, perhaps my all-time favorite band (well, only perhaps, since I've got a lot of all-time favorite bands), here do some reunion thingie of Turn, Turn, Turn.

Y'know? I sometimes just love YouTube.

Makes me want to buy a 12-string guitar again, dammit. Stupid, I know.

You'd think they could've doubled up on some of those "time to"s and cast stones into a pile somewhere else for later instead of taking a separate time to gather the cast away stones. Sheesh. Productivity, people.

When you've got a knees melting smile like Robert McGuinn you can do what ever you want with your stones

I love Ricky when she was young

Last Chance Texaco
makes me ache so purty.

She was edgy from her days with Tom Waits. Her music is sexy and flirtatious. She the kind of girl that would loosen her bra for you. Knew what you wanted and where it could be found. No games--she'd always look you in the eyes. All you have to do is measure up

Dear Pandora, I'm digging the link that you provided. Thanks. Really enjoyable to hear her voice as a instrument that ranges from soft and low (sort of like Lauren Bacall) to sharp and high. I'm of the opinion that We Belong Together from Pirates is her best work. The lyrics are there and her voice is so enthralling

I think you two need to spend some time with Mr. Discipline.

I mean, mocking one's stones. Now, really. Behave yourselves.

Oh, yeah. This is a music thread. So, OK--Stones. 'K?

She has a voice like silk and her lyrics are poetry. I'd so give her babies if I were a guy and if she'd let me.

:caning: Oh yes I do believe so! I mean I've been feeling so undisciplined lately. *nudges UYS*

BLUEY!!! Hello Dahlin'!!! Good to see you!! Missed you lots and lots. Glad you're still around.

This is my wake up song these days. If I get some alone time this weekend I'm gonna get in the 'proper' frame of mind and go out on the porch and bellow it!!! Just cuz I can!

Right at the moment, only beatles songs bc I am learning the entire Abbey road B-side on bass and piano (I know most. Of it on guitar.
So at this moment:

Once ther was a way
To get back homeward
Once ther was a way
To get back home

Sleep pretty darling
Do not cry
And I will sing a lullaby

Golden slumbers
Fill your eyes
Smiles awake you when you rise

Sleep pretty darling do not cry
And I will sing a lullaby.

I'm in Heaven

Emusic now has Miles Davis classics such as Bitches Brew, Sketches of Spain, Walkin', etc.

High and solitary and most stern—here's Prez blowing liquidly over Oscar's rhythm.

Happy Monday.

Prez Plays with the Oscar Peterson Trio is a great, great cd. One of my favorites that I listen to all the time. My favorite cut is I'm Confessing. What that man could do with a ballad. :)

ETA And this is rather magical, too.

Really? I'm so there. :D

PS Per your question, I love Tom Waits. How could I not? He's jazzy and bluesy and folky and a poet.

I've submitted Tom Waits to NPR for their 100 Voices that have changed how we listen to music

How can you not include Mr. Waits?

Oh, look! It's Alien Ant Farm, channeling the late MJ.

How exciting.

This post iz dedicated to two o' me muses: bj (for her original ideer, posted elsewhere) and sf (just check out the selections on the vending machine, honey, which made me think o' you): Yes, it is Smooth Criminal, presented in 80s TeeVee.

If somehow I could fit in Kitsilano, life would be good.

Hell. Life is very, very good anyway, but that would make it better.

Erk.
