You ever get wasted and listen to Wasted?

Good times!

And when you speak the words you know
To those who know the words themselves
You're wasted
You're such a classic waste of cool
So afraid to break the rules
In all the wrong places

It's tricky, because I'm in awe of anyone who can hold a tune. Put It's probably Diana Ross.

Different answer tomorrow.

Mary Wilson - many people thought she was a better singer than Diana Ross in The Supremes, but that Diana got the lead spot for her looks.

A great singer, no matter what:

Pre-2000: DEBBIE HARRY (Blondie)

Post-2000: PAU VILLAREAL (Drummer/Vocalist, The Warning)

Best Live Song: LISA FISCHER (Vocals, "Gimme Shelter," Rolling Stones)

Minnie Ripperton

Lovin' You was her first hit, but we lost her to cancer in 1979, age 31. Another true talent gone. Who knows where this incredible singer could have gone?

I could probably post this in perfect albums. Caitlin Rose and Own Side Now. Pretty fucking brilliant.

I'm goin' out on the town
Said I'm tired of chasin' you down
And it's not my right to always push you around
I'm on my own side now

Who's gonna take me home?
'Cause I don't wanna go it alone
Who's gonna want me when I'm just somewhere you've been
Who's gonna want me now?
And who's gonna take me home?

At this point, I forget who I highlighted before, but Phoebe Snow is often overlooked, despite the fact that she is a mad talent with mad skills.

And just the fact that Donald Fagan invited her to join his legendary New York Rock and Soul Review speaks volumes.

Clearer here, on a different tune:

That’s awesome! Met her at a show a few years back. Very nice.
I do not presume to know Aimee Mann, but I did see her on my block with the other dudes in her band. I think she may have lived close by as well.
