I feel pretty!

I've found that box and salon end up similar for me. A little too dark in the beginning and then a few days later it's nice. I don't dye my hair regularly though. It highlights on its own really nicely, but then by the end of the summer looks sort of washed out to me. So I usually break down around September and do a semi-permanent darker version of my own color, and then I'm good for a while. I've considered have a professional just color the washed out parts, but it seems like a lot of effort for something that isn't that off, you know? My natural hair color is pretty nice. It just gets too faded at the end of the summer.

I can. If forced. I need written instructions, however.

Hey this actually lands on the thread -

I felt pretty when my deceased mom's BF's dad looked up and said "this tates like my mother's" when I made Chicken Marsala. Maybe he was just being nice. There's a weird kind of femme pride and joy thing I get when dishing up food for people.

I don't have the babymaker thing at all, but I wish I had a troop to feed.

I'm pretty sure you have a babymaker thing. Ba dum dum! Sorry, couldn't resist.

I can totally relate to the joy in pleasing others from cooking. I am absolutely happiest cooking in a good kitchen (one with space and laid out well, nothing fancy) and then feeding a small crowd. If they are pleased it is pure bliss.

Agreed!
I love Thanksgiving....all family, plus any strays that want to, come over to my house, and I do all the cooking for everybody! Pretty much an open house all day. Then I bring plates to some elderly neighbors that live close by. Purely selfish on my part because I LOVE doing it. I find myself drooling over "Spice up my kitchen!" on HGTV.....SO want a Viking stove...
*looks wistfully at double ovens*

And I don't have the baby maker gene, either, N!

Does it come out too blonde or too red? Brassy? Too dark?

With an in-between shade like strawberry blonde, it's understandably difficult, personally were I a stylist I would dual-treat the hair, dying it a light shade of red first, then foiling in VERY fine blonde highlights, for the effect of lightening the entire color...but that's just me.

Not strawberry enough so I guess too blond.

:rose:

I've kept it blond since 7th grade. Naturally I'd say it was brown.

Hm.

I've been giving this a lot of thought the last couple days.

Now, I know from personal experience that some people's hair lightens really easily, a given example, mine does. Even though the natural color is a really odd shade of bronze, it lightens to blonde hella easy, and unless the stylist watches it, it can overbleach to platinum in a second. It's happened before (although I ended up liking the color it turned out, thank God.)

You don't necessarily have to be blonde to get blonde quickly. Perhaps you have the kind of hair that lightens easily?

If you ever give it one more shot at a salon, you might ask for "light red" instead of "strawberry blonde", so that the ratio of lightener to color won't be so high. You might get a darker, redder result from it.

Thanks!

I may get a wild hair someday and try that but I'm pretty happy with what I can do at home, cheaper, quicker, less stinky, by myself at any hour of the day or night.

I wore a dress to a chocolate and wine tasting. I haven't worn a dress in over a year. . .it made me feel pretty. It also makes me want to go dress shopping. Unintended side effect. :x

"My love in her attire doth show her wit;
It doth so well become her.
For every season she hath dressings fit;
For Winter, Spring, and Summer.
No beauty doth she miss
When all her robes are on,
But Beauty's self she is
When all her robes are gone."

I painted my toe nails. It made me feel pretty...even though I made a mess. I'm terrible at girly stuff!

So my mother got an entire set of mineral makeup and gave it to me. I'm not sure why. Maybe she ordered 2?

Anyway, I've been playing with it for a few days. I like some aspects of it quite a bit.

Some of the things are difficult for me to open though and my eyelids are a bit swollen. Strange.

I've spent the last 48 hours moving into a new house.

I took a bath.

I feel pretty.

I at least feel pretty enough to sleep with myself.

The other pretty stuff will come after I have beaten all of the boxes down. That's when I will exercise my full day spa gift certificate courtesy of a sweet, special person.

Wow! That's a lot accomplished! Good for you!

I have on heels, a skirt, a nice top, painted toenails and fingernails, strawberries and champagne lotion, and make up.
