I miss the fitness threads and the fitness Doms!

I'm in a happy groove again.

Did an hour, burned 530 calories according to my watch thingie, feel really good.

Seems that doing a few weeks, then having a week off, then getting back into it, might just work better for me.

Excellent! Sounds like you're finding your groove Lizzie. :)

I finally made it in to see my ART gal, Dr G, about my back. Welp, apparently I injured my lat muscle on the right side. All I know is that I came damn close to safewording in there today, as close as I've ever come, lol. I am still in pain hours later.

At the end of the treatment, she had me rotate my shoulder to see how it felt and if there was improvement in mobility.

Dr G: "Roll your shoulder. Does that feel OK?"
Me: *rolls shoulder*
Dr G: "Well...aside from the loud grinding noise, does that feel OK?"

:D

I did exercise bike Tuesday, Strength class last night, tonight is ABBT. I just *know* I'm gonna have to do another gajillion curls, lunges and squats. My legs are gonna fall off. :D

Ouch @ the grinding noises though. I like how she asks if it's ok besides that. Ha!

Yeah, Dr G knows me and well-used bod pretty well. We frequently crack up at the noises it makes.

The story sounds really familiar. I have both of my shoulders anchored so that they won't dislocate so often, and the little things they've used to do it make this horrible screeching noise, when I rotate my arms or roll my shoulders. Not at all dissimilar to hinges in need of a splash of oil. It's not once or twice that people in the middle of a lecture at the university have turned to the door to see who's coming in after I've raised my hand for which ever reason.

Fitness related: Swimming 2-4 times a week for the past couple of months has really been working. I'm getting to a place where I could actually do some other sports than swimming, finally! I have an appointment with the PT on Monday and with a bit of luck she'll say, I can start doing things that I'd potentially enjoy a lot more than swimming.

I love uphill sprints (liar). No seriously I love uphill sprints (liar). Honest, hand on whatever holy book suits, I love uphill sprints. It's over and done with quickly, I feel like I actually worked out. I was happy with my times on the six uphills, although they are not yet big times. Only thing I'm not enjoying is how tight my right lung feels now...hmmmm...I think a hot shower is definitely in order.

Just remember how low impact swimming is - if you do have joint issues, you might actually feel better sticking with swimming. I used to love to swim, but I hate the smell of chlorine. But give me a saline pool and call me a fish. Good luck with it!

LOL. Be the pain! :)

It ended up being not too bad! :D

Is it okay to want the pain? Actually that's how I figure out if I had a good workout or not - if my muscles feel that familiar "damn you worked hard" pain. Hope the shoulder is okay!

I'm a masochist. Exercising is *not* fun pain for me yet :D But a really full on gym session will leave me feeling all emotional and vulnerable like a full on play session.

LB: What is ABBT? Good luck on the lunges and squats.

Arms, bellies, bums & thighs... so it was a session focusing on those spots.

I hate lunges and squats cos my knee is clicky. If I go slow and think about my movement, it doesn't hurt, but if I try and keep up with the pace, I crunch and then I have to stop for a minute. So I just go slow.

Haha lunges....my lunges are the most awkward looking in the class. And once they start using the bench or doing those quick back and forward ones I lose all my co-ordination and balance

So I stick to standing still and lunging in one place rather than look like an idiot ;) :D

Ouch! Is it the latissimus or the posterior deltoid? Or both? Those rotator cuffs are tricky business, so many overlapping and cross-functioning muscles. Good luck.

Nice work! That's the beauty of intensity training. It hurts but it's over quick, and it makes for big gains!

I am dealing with shoulder issues again after a rotator cuff injury two years ago. I shall have to get me to an orthopedist, methinks, or lay off the heavy squats. Me being me, that ain't going to happen, especially as I am closing in on my all time PR, which I am pretty stoked about even though it's just something I do to be fast in bike races.

Thank you. :rose:

Don't make me get all domme on you and order you to the doctor! Please take care of yourself...you know what I think about those shoulders.

I have 2 goals for my fitness and weightloss journey.

A size 14 clothes for the weightloss, and for the fitness, I want to be able to run.

Last night at the gym, the session finished early, so I started doing some jogging on the spot. It was probably more a shuffle, but it was something. And I managed to go for about 7-8 minutes out of 10. I had a few minor pauses for a quick rest here or there.

Tomorrow I'm going to try it actually moving. There's a sports oval behid my house, I'm going to see how long it takes me to go round.

Same! Those jumpy ones where they switch leading legs! So not gonna happen.

I almost fall over at some of the easier stuff, I'm so unco.

Back when I was just on the cusp of becoming acceptably fit, I remember lying on my back one day and having my physical trainer asking, "Do you feel your abs activating?" and I was very definite on the fact that they weren't.
She was very confused, because your abs have to activate in order for you to be lying on your back in the first place.

We did some exploration, and she discovered that after all the crunches, planks, etc., I associated my abs activating with PAIN. This was the first time they'd got to the point where they could activate without it.

I actually thought my abs weren't activated because they weren't hurting me.

That still makes me chuckle.

As long as you are bouncing you are running. And I've read breaking up running with some short walk intervals actually helps because it allows your respiration to recover, allowing you to actually run farther than if you don't break things up. Keep at it!

This is a great story, especially because I woke feeling like my thighs and ass were in pain, indicating they were activated over the last two days. The next time I lay down for crunches I'll think of this - thanks for sharing.

I made it to the gym last night! First time since 18th January! I've broken my duck!

(where's the running-around-yelling-"whoop-whoop-whoop"-and-punching-the-fist-in-the-air smiley when you need it??)

Admittedly (because of the day I'd had) I had pure stress chemicals in my veins rather than blood of any sort, but hey - I managed the exact same cardio workout at the same intensity for the same length of time as I was doing when I was at my fittest before Christmas.

Excellent work, kitty :) Knew you could do it, and rock it!

About a week ago I took my weight up high with lower reps. Bench press to 55kgs, squat the same. Still room for more, but I would prefer a spotter.

Intentionally and repeatedly lifting so much weight feels very good these last days, and my appetite has gone up to match.

Today was lighter, with focus on breathing and technique.
