I miss the fitness threads and the fitness Doms!

About a week ago I took my weight up high with lower reps. Bench press to 55kgs, squat the same. Still room for more, but I would prefer a spotter.

Intentionally and repeatedly lifting so much weight feels very good these last days, and my appetite has gone up to match.

Today was lighter, with focus on breathing and technique.

Bench is all about doing it as often as you can.

Do it like 3 times a week and your numbers will go up.

Trouble is once you start slacking you lose it just as fast.

I'm back to doing my normal classes now after dealing with that shoulder injury.

I'm back to my normal weights for pump, I boxed with a guy on Tuesday night which left my shoulder feeling ok but my forearms bloody sore  and there was a launch of a new bodycombat routine which includes plenty of kicks :D Today I have the usual slight aches and pains which means I've done a good job this week and I'm taking a couple of days off for rest and recovery

So, I've been obediently trotting over to physio after work for months and months now.
And I am experiencing less pain, and I am able to be on my feet for more to most of the day, which is a big thing (although yesterday finally settling into my chair while they worked on their math tests I did let out an "ahhhh" of relief).
The way it works is I go over there, sign in, eat a cookie :) and then I grab an exercise ball and dumbbells, do some ball-assisted squats, tricep thingies, bicep curls, and a variety of other exercises, do twenty minutes on the bike, and then my physio works on my back (and my knee, lately) and I get ultrasound and TENS. So the first half of my time there is totally self-directed. They showed me what to do, and I go and do it.
Twice I didn't do all of it because of my knee, and once I said, "I'm exhausted. Can I please not do the exercises today?" and they agreed, which was borne out by the fact that I was so close to falling asleep during the 18 minutes of ultrasound I actually drooled. But every other day I've done it.

I did notice that I seemed to have the most elaborate exercise routine of anyone there at that time of day. Hell, sometimes I come after two days and the bike is still in the settings I put it in on Tuesday (though usually it's not). But it didn't really mean anything until the other day. The other physio came to remove my TENS pads and reset everything when I was done, and he told me that he'd been watching and he noticed how I came in and always did all of my exercises and worked hard on them and how that was really good. And when I told him, "Well, that's the only way this will work," he told me that he wished more of their clients thought that way. And I told him how much better my back was and he said, "You make us look good."
So that was a nice warm fuzzie. Because I was the one who decided that I should go up to twenty minutes on the bike and up to a higher resistance cord for my bicep curls and the highest dumbbells for another exercise, but usually no one really cares about that sort of thing. So it was really nice for him to notice and take the time to let me know it was good.

:)

Oh, and my physio discovered an adhesion on my muscle behind my knee on my hamstring. Oh crap, sometimes I hate Active Release techniques. "Oh, that's too much? So I'll go a little lower for 20 seconds and work back up to it." Argh.

Keep with it...this all sounds outstanding! I fought (with the help of someone sweet) the "why am I doing this" demon this week. The small changes that sometimes are hard to notice eventually pay off when you realize how far you've come from when you started. Good luck with it all!

Today was yoga and stretching and core. I am on the way to kicking at chest height with good balance.

Note to future self: Keep doing different excercises, they are more interesting!
Note to past self: Thanks, we liked all the fish you got for us.

Note to present and future self: Borrow IOI's Note to future self.

I went walking for 30 minutes today. First day on my own to do some form of exercise in a while.

Good for you! It is SO difficult for me to walk by myself. You did great.

:rose:

I walked for thirty minutes with my son today. Found him passed out later. LOL

Note to past self: Thanks for getting us started! We now laugh at previous obstacles and progress past them with ease. Ha ha ha! Thank you, past self!

Present self: This investment in fish and vegetables and chicken and seasoning for aforementioned items is projected to give high returns in twin fields of energy and future sexiness.

Note to future self: I made you lunch (and two snack meals). *smacks future self's ass*

Have fun with that sexual harassment suit.

It's true. I had to stop when I had surgery, and it's taken me some time to get back. I'm still returning to where I was. Today I am nice and sore from weights and it feels great.

When I get like this it's the closest I get to relating to all the subs that rave about how good and sore they feel the day after getting a workover. :D

Ok, so I have some mystery sickness that may or may not be mono. It's done a number on my appetite. I really don't give a shit about eating now; I only do it because I have to, not because I'm hungry.

So I decided to take advantage of this turn of events and try to go on sugar detox. My reasoning is that since I don't feel like eating, anyway, I won't drive myself crazy about what I can and can't have. And by the time my appetite returns, I'll be used to eating this way. Makes sense, yes?

I've made it through day three without any murders or any other serious blips on the radar. *Knock on wood* I think if I can make it through the weekend, it'll be smooth sailing. Keep your fingers crossed for me, please? Thanks lots. :)

Yea I have like 1 -2 in^2 of flesh missing on my left pectoral and I always feel that side overcompensating. Makes it harder.

I have strep. Well, at least something wrong with my throat. It is enough like strep that my doctor decided to treat it like strep from the instant she saw it, and kept to that even when the rapid test came up negative. She called it "gooey" and said "eew" when she looked at the second swab. My tonsil looked like a bunch of grapes.
But whatever it is, it's nasty.
I had/have a headache and feel all weak and nauseous and first was hot and then was so cold a wool sweater didn't warm me up. I took yesterday and today off work, too. And the only things I've eaten are soft French bread and white rice.
So when I get better I get the joy of trying to detox off of what is one step away from pure sugar.
My throat is so sore I don't care right now, though. It is somewhat better.
This is the first time in a long time that I drove to work and realized I couldn't work. I could have fallen asleep right there if my throat didn't hurt so bad. Nobody let me work. They got a supply for the afternoon and my pod partner took my kids for the morning, and sent me home.
My doctor did point out that since I only really got sick now, Christmas and March Break I'm actually doing much better than in a typical year. But I still feel like badly worked over crap.
I'm going back to work tomorrow, but I'm taking a movie with me. The kids will watch a movie. I don't give a fuck about curriculum. I just want to get to the weekend without taking another sick day.
I've lost 9 pounds in the last 2 days. I hope a few will stay off once I start eating again.
And I cancelled physio for today and tomorrow.
Okay, whining's over. Thanks.

Ain't that the truth. I have no problem getting back to where I was after a lay-off when it comes to squats and deads, but I fight for every pound on the bench.

Just completed a 35 minute aerobic workout with light weights. The frustrating part is that not too long ago I would have no trouble making it through the workout. Today it kicked my butt.

I've decided to alternate the boxing class with a spin (cycle) class week about:

1) because it's heading into winter and the spin class is an hour earlier than the boxing class

2) because I don't want to re-injure my shoulder which is holding up well at the moment

3) because it's good to "mix things up" when it comes to workouts.

The Easter break is going to be a pain with only one of my normal classes on and the gym is closed for 2 days....

So apparently the kids have decided that monday is "Walk with Papa" day after we went out last week, and they basically bully browbeat me into going this week again as "we aaaalways walk on mondays." Kids.

Also got the bikes out and started riding. Nothing serious, just 30 minutes at a fairly gentle speed, but, wow, my legs aren't liking me.
