I miss the fitness threads and the fitness Doms!

Slimming World weekly meeting is tonight and I've got this sneaking feeling that there's gonna be a gain for me at weigh-in.... I feel bigger in my clothes. I am pre-menstrual and so probably retaining fluid, but even so, I think I will be disappointed if I do have a gain. Oh well. I'll know in 10 hours' time!

Well I stayed the same weight this week. I'm trying really, really, REALLY hard not to be disappointed.

Look on the bright side - if you think you're retaining fluid and "feel bigger" but have stayed the same weight, chances are you have lost some along the line somewhere :rose:

On an lighter note, if you want to lose weight try a colonoscopy. I've lost 1.5kg in poop!

Now THAT's what I call a good clear-out!

If you could lose 20 pounds in the next twelve months that would be amazing. That's about as good as it is going to get in my nonprofessional opinion. That's 1.67 pounds A MONTH. It won't be a straight line progression either. You might go a month without losing a pound. March of 2011 is going to get here either way. Try to see the big picture and take a long term view and use the scale just to make sure you aren't gaining weight. Or depending on what you are doing exercise wise your waistline and how your clothes fit is a better indicator. I've gained a few pounds but as long as my jeans still fit I'm not going to obsess about it.

One half of me knows you are speaking much sense.

The other half is thinking "NO FUCKING WAY! I MUST LOSE 40 MORE POUNDS BY CHRISTMAS 2010! I'LL PROVE WD WRONG, GODDAMMIT!!!"

Congrats on your jeans still fitting!

Oh - PS - FWIW I am still doing 2 hours of brisk, hilly walking every single day - more at weekends. This coming Saturday I am doing a 7-mile hike that includes the full ascent of a 1,581-foot hill.

Well, your mind and your body are two different things. Your mind might say that you've lost 30 pounds in six months so you should lose 30 more in the next six months. But your body is probably already somewhat stressed from the 30 you have lost.

You are doing great. Just don't let the scale get you down.

Would it be impolite to cheer a bit for your "no big deal"?

Haha not at all. Today I got infused again - the bad news is that I literally slept all day and now am awake. Dammit. I plan on repeating this again a couple more times this week. The walk, not the meds. I am now in the 8 week until it stops working indefinitely club, and the Western Medicine - it's there when nothing else does the trick club.

It's hard to remember to do things like fish oil and vitamins when you're doing the big gun stuff anyway, but my tests came back macrocitic aneimic, which means not enough b-12 and folate. Not a shock when I've been eating turkey and potato and bread for 4 months.

Had Greek food. Nothing too weird, some lightly fried smelts with lemon and skordalia (a lot of garlic and a little mashed potato) and some cooked meats rolled in cooked romaine. No major issues.

I am SO looking forward to the farmers' markets it's almost making me insane.

Yes. A single pound is a small increment.

It slows down a lot after an initial drop - I think of it as the weight that absolutley should never have been on in the first place, the "danger weight" - that falls off me fairly fast - the second 30 pounds of that 60 is a much slower endeavor, but it's the weight I've been since high school and around 25 pounds of that range that I'm talking about - a weight my body "knows" so it's just different.

And every Greek food moment shows on the scale. I *do* weigh in every day or I can lose track too easily, but I also accept those little fluctuations of 1-3 pounds as anything from period to scale dysfunction. It's when five show up again quickly that I change what I'm doing.

Oh, and your working out is fantastic for your health. Whatever your weight is, you are doing a rocking world of favor for your body with your walks. Your walk schedule inspires me, personally.

Thanks WD and Netz.

Netz, I've got to say I feel SO much healthier (kind-of "glowier" if you know what I mean) for all the exercise and fresh air. Seeing/being in amongst beautiful scenery for two hours a day doesn't do me any psychological harm, either, as a desk-worker.

With a full-time-plus job and two hours' walking a day, plus cooking everything from scratch with fresh ingredients, I dont get much time for anything else, but for now that's ok.

The bolded part is exactly what I do, too, and for the same reason. I don't freak about inching up, but it reminds me to think a little harder about my diet and exercise that day, consider my choices carefully.

I've gained about five pounds in the past five months, which doesn't seem like a lot, but it's a slippery slope. We've been remodeling our kitchen and so have been eating out constantly since October because we literally don't have a functioning kitchen. I know it's the eating out and that once I can actually cook again, it will likely come back off fairly easily, but it still freaks me out. It's just frustrating because when forced to eat out, no matter how careful you are, there's only so much you can do to control what you're putting in your mouth.:(

My neighbour's daughter (who is about my age) called out to me in the road just now "Have you lost weight?" and when I said yes and she got closer she said "God, how much have you lost? You've lost LOADS!!" and I took great pleasure in telling her I'd lost 2st 3lb (31 pounds, in USA-speak!) since November.

I think I love her

That has been the kind of fillip I needed after not losing any weight this week - a real, live, positive reminder of the longer view.

{{{{{Bandit}}}}}} And that isn't the way to do it as we all know. Kind of like losing it by getting dysentary.

I WD ~ I hear you about using how clothes fit as a good indicator. When they get a tad snug it is time to start watching what I am eating for a few weeks. They then get loose.

Woke up Sunday feeling like crap - some kind of virus, whatever.

Lance had a construction job planned for us on Monday. When L gets an idea in his head...have I mentioned he's a human steamroller? Yes, he could have postponed it a day or two but no, that's not his way. Have I also mentioned he's the world's worst nurse?

Anyway, I didn't want him to do the job alone. Too much heavy lifting, etc. So, I went with him, sick and all. We put in a ten hour day and got the job done which made our client very, very :D

Today?

UGH! Fucking UGH!!!!!

My body hates me. Going back to sleep now. Just needed to vent.

Yow, that's scary.

We have a little greek-italian place nearby with the best appetizer ever. It's just a plate with a warm quartered pita sprinkled with some olive oil and oregano, a handful of calamata olives, and a few chunks of feta. Total simplicity, but so very perfect. We've taken to doing it here at home whenever we happen to have pitas.

Youngest son got sick wednesday of last week and came home. Then again on friday. Then eldest son got sick saturday. Then eldest daughter, eldest son, and youngest son on sunday. Monday, MIS got sick. Bad sick. viv and I just feel like crap, and are seeing the inside of the bathroom too much. Poor MIS was crushed flat, and has been more or less sleeping for the past two days, and is calling in sick to work again tomorrow.

Youngest daughter? Perfectly goddamned cheerfully fine. Everyone else is sullen and glaring in between visits of Pukey the Clown and his little dog, Vomit, and runs to the bathroom. Youngest daughter is little mary sunshine.

Crazy. Six people out of work in my husband's office with high fever and flu-like symptoms. Holy plague, batman!

Atlanta will have about the worst weather in the country today but the weekend will be excellent. Get my heart rate up in the gym today then ride the bike on Friday and a hike in the mountains on Saturday. Have a really good 3 out of 4 days and then see what next week brings. (Notice I'm not obsessing over what I will weigh on Monday. Put the work in and it doesn't matter.) :)

ANother deload day sails by, whee.

I'm starting to itch for the bar again.

Today I took my dog to the groomer's. She goes every 6 weeks. I went as I usually do, in jeans and a t-shirt and open fleece. Here is the conversation --

Groomer: "God I didn't recognise you til I saw the dog - you've totally changed your hair!"
Me: "No, my hair's the same"
Groomer: "No it isn't - you look completely different - totally different colour and cut".
Me: "If you say so"

My hair never changes... my face and body size and shape do lol.

What sucks is people get used to your new size and all the comments stop.

Now Yahoo is saying 76 degrees tomorrow. Nice day for a bike ride along the river. I got a little bag that fits on the front big enough for two water bottles, a granola bar and my keys and wallet.

I could DEFINITELY live with that once I was at goal weight :D

Anyone who can walk up and down hills for nine miles is ok in my book.

I shaved six minutes off my bike ride. I'd do it again today but I think I'll be just as happy with a Nordic walk and some weightlifting. I think I'm going to take a month and just work on getting my wind up. To where I can do the elliptical for 30+ minutes. Do one bike ride a week just to keep my toes wet.

Well, aside from a day of construction, which was definitely a workout, I have done nothing this week thanks to this stupid virus. Back at it on Monday, though. I don't care if I have to hack up one of my lungs to do it, either!

My meditation practice has improved since I started the yoga. Can't say that one is related to the other though. Unless you are heavy into new age and want to say my Chakras are being cleared.
