I miss the fitness threads and the fitness Doms!

Dude, dude, dude, I am so there and not there. At least you did something.

Yes, the cough has returned. A two day respite and right back to the hacking.

FUCK, FUCK, FUCK!!!

Oh, geeze, I'm sorry.

*hugs*

What sucked for me was hitting 145# and thinking, "Ugh, this is kinda heavy. Wait, I can feel this weight?" It was an unpleasant feeling.

Thanks H.

At least the place we're house sitting now has three floors so L can escape my constant hack, hack, hack.

I'll see what I can squat next week. I know I can do more. I went to lighter weights because my hip felt out of whack. It's fine now. I might had just had bad form on one or something. Nothing happened to hurt at the time, it was just bothering me the next day.

Sweat = good.

Maybe its something in the air around your place.

Cycle 4, Wave A
Deadlift day

165x5
205x5
245x uh, skipped this set. Brain fart.
265x5
305x5
350x9 Rep calc says 455#

My right hand gave out. I feel like I have a fractured knuckle, except that it is between my middle and ring finger on my right hand. I have no idea what is going on, but when I put any pressure on the hand, it aches. Really damned weird. That's the hand that gave out too. I was struggling to keep 9, and just knew that 10 wasn't happening.

I am really wondering what I did to my hand...

I am slacking off with the posting, but I am lifting. Monday was:

Cycle 4 Wave A
Overhead day

60x5
70x5
85x5 Warm-ups done
95x5
110x5
120x10 Rep calc says 160#

No assistance work again. Yes, I sucketh.

Wednesday was supposed to be Squat day, but LB stumbled on the stairs and dorked up his ankle as he was walking down tot he garage. It wasn't bad, but I didn't want him to push it, so we benched. Thus:

Cycle 4, Wave B
Bench day

95x5
120x5
145x3 Warm-ups done
165x3
190x3
215x10 Rep calc says 287#

Foot-supported pull-ups - 10x1, 8x1

Did some push-ups, but didn't count them.

All in all, an okay lift. My tris and shoulders weren't 100%, as we did overheads on Monday, but they were rested enough to put out good effort. And, once again, I locked in really solid form on the last set. At least three of those reps were solely because I'd set up just right and really had the tension working. It felt great.

Hey, you're putting in your time, good enough. It's like putting money in a savings account, (that's how I try to look at it), some months you can deposit a couple hundred bucks and some months you can only afford a few dollars but it all adds up, as long as you keep making those deposits.

Me, I played tennis for about 3 hours, two days in a row, then took two days off (to let the cough subside again) and today I'm going to go for a run. I'm going to play in a doubles tournament on the 30th, so that should be a hoot.

The weather is so, so beautiful right now. It's like sports nirvana...*cue angelic music*

I seem to have lost my food-control mojo lately.

On the positive side, my weight has NOT crept back up - at all.

On the negative side, neither has it crept down.

I am going on holiday to Holland in a week's time (land of the munchies...land of no hills to climb.... land of Indonesian scrumptious food.....land of delish cheeses... land of the late-night KILLER munchies...) and I sooooooo want to lose a pound or two before I go so my jeans will be that bit looser, but can I stop stuffing my face? Can I buggery.

I need to get a grip. NOW.

In other news, I suspect I am now fitter (measured in terms of ability to hike up hills etc), at 42, than I have EVER been in my life - and that includes childhood/teens.

I gained half a pound. Even I'm getting sick of my procrastination and lack of willpower. So, back on the diet 100%, no slacking off.

At this time? Reverting to small snacking meals and one solid one versus shoving everything in my face in a bender of instant gratification.

I definately need to end my bender of instant gratification! I can't stick to my diet at all lately :(

I gave myself total slack till 4/15 and went a week over.

Was naughty for dinner but the rest of the day very good. I just plan it at this point. I'll ratchet the discipline another notch soon.

Tomorrow (weather permitting) - an 8-mile walk that includes a 1,960-foot high hill, whose ascent is unusually steep.

Ah well, if it gets tough I'll just remind myself that I do have masochistic tendencies.

LB was hurting pretty badly, so we didn't lift Friday. I'll be lifting tomorrow whether he's hurting or not. We'll just leave him off of any ankle-weighting movements.

My BP is back up to the point where I'm cranky at minor shit.

Not good.

Time for more cardio and better diet.

Skipped the lift today and went for a bike ride (in the rain even). Poor LB was wrecked by it. He needs the cardio more than I do. Course his BP is better than mine. *sigh*

The weekly Slimming World weigh-in was tonight and I've lost a pound which, considering what I've eaten in the last week, makes me a very lucky girl.

When I get back from my holiday in Holland, in about 10 days' time, I must really get back onto the diet 100%. It's a great, filling, healthy, permissive diet, and it does work rather well. My problem lately is that I've not been following it very well.

When I get back from hols. New mojo and everything.

Meantime, as of tonight I have lost exactly 40 pounds since November 2009, and I have exactly 30 pounds still to lose.

Brilliant hon, well done!!

I'm back on track 100%, I have to get this shifted ready to start treatment. I'm 11.5 down, 53.5 to go, started in march. Weigh in is tomorrow, and I expect a 2lb gain :(
Do you do red, green or EE?

Oooh well done, you're well on the way!

I tend to do reds (lots of baked skinless chicken with (almost) literally mountains of free veg). I find when I do green that I am limiting my protein and it seems to be protein that keeps me feeling full longer.

I don't think I'd lose weight on Exta-Easy. EE is something I plan to move onto at first when I get to goal, as I reckon I could maintain on EE but not lose.

What do you tend to do?

PS if you like Indian food, the recipes in this book are to die for , and most are free.

A friend at work got it for me last Xmas and I cook from it at least once a week.

I've heard more than a couple of times that this particular book has some really fantastic curry recipes in it. Maybe I'll invest in a copy. I like curries,a nd would like to see them here at home. I get tired of buyign premade sauces too, so a cookbook would be a good idea. The fact that it is healthy helps even more.

Actually it may have been me that recommended it to you before, H, so I don't know if that counts lol.

But the recipes are truly delicious and satisfying and authentic-tasting - and I speak as a long-term curry-house freak who also lived with a Pakistani man for over a decade.

Cycle 4, Wave B
Overhead Press day

60x5
70x5
85x3 Warm-ups done
100x3
115x3
130x9 Rep calc says 169#, whee

LB said his foot was fine today, but, honestly, foot injuries are a bitch to deal with and take forever to recover from. "Fine" doesn't really cut it when we're talking about the sort of loading we do in squats and deads. So I let him pick between bench, overhead, and more cycling. Unsurprisingly, he chose the overhead. Yes, it is loading on the foot, but as his top weight was 115#, it's not a lot of loading. And it let us load the foot and ankle moderately to test it out. He did just fine, IMO, and put out enough reps that hsi rep calc was only 2# behind mine.

And me? My BP was hopping around and I got white lights in my head pretty early in that last set. Rep 9 was tough and I got right dizzy, so I stopped.

Interestingly, since I've been monitoring my BP, it has been trending down. I've dialed back on the carbs (translation: no cookies or other sweets), and ditched caffeine. It seems to be helping.

This morning, before lifting: 144/84
After my top set (with enough time to remove weights from the bar): 153/85

The last doc I saw for my BP said that the systolic was essentially ignorable for me. Given that I lift heavy shit on a regular basis, my system has adapted to massive spikes in systolic pressure. His concern was the diastolic (resting) pressure. When I first started monitoring, it was up in the high 90's. It has since trended back down to the low 80's. Happiness.

To an extent, I wonder if I got into something that drove the pressure up. My weight hasn't climbed dramatically, and I've not been doing vastly less exercise. Nor has my life been super stressful. It's like my BP just jumped by twenty points for a coupla weeks for no reason. Weird.

Anyway, did some other stuff:

One-arm KB rows w/ the 70# bell: 1x10 each arm, 1x15 each arm

I wussed out on the first set because my head was pounding. I checked my BP and it was LOWER than my resting initial BP this morning, so, wow, confusion. I decided to do a more meaningful number of reps on the second set and was okay.

KB swings with the 70# bell - 1x12 each arm without stopping

Yeah, this one sent my perceived BP through the roof, but, yet again, my diastolic was okay (85). Systolic was about 163 or so, so it was goin', but the resting pressure was okay.

Overall, I feel MUCH better than I did this time last week. Hell, I feel better than I did this time three days ago. I have GOT to keep my BP under control, I just wish I could figure out what caused this spike. A few days of eating better and less caffeine should not have caused this dramatic of a drop.

Current BP - 142/85 and I'm okay with that.

ETA: I'm okay with it because it is lower than it was. I'm okay with it because I'm not getting constant headaches. I'm okay with it because my anger is not hair-trigger. Yes, it needs to be lower, but this is more livable than where it was.
